2025 will always be known on the DP World Tour as the year of Marco Penge.
The Englishman has come of age and become a serial winner, which contrasts with the majority of his professional career, which has been spent battling away on the Challenge Tour, now called the Hotel Planner Tour.
In 2023, Penge won the Challenge Tour Grand Final and earned a spot on the DP World Tour, but it was a season of struggle, which almost ended with losing his card. A moment which is now more significant than ever was Penge holing a five-footer to make the cut at the 2024 Genesis Championship in South Korea. This meant that he kept his card for 2025.
In 2025, Penge won the Hainan Classic, the Danish Golf Championship and the Open de España, announcing himself on the European stage and also earning playing rights on the PGA Tour in America.

During his most successful season, he had Max Bill on the bag as his caddie. It is difficult to determine when this pair began working together, but what is certain is that they have a winning formula and have proven to be a great duo on the course.
After winning the Hainan Classic at the Blackstone Course at Mission Hills Resort in China, Penge spoke about Max:
“After my time off, it was the thing that I wanted to really prove to myself and prove to everyone, to show what a player I am.
“My caddie, through that time, has been my rock. And my wife and my whole team – I wouldn’t be where I am without them. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.”
Bill has previously caddied for Scotsman David Law on the DP World Tour, and was pictured doing so at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship in 2023. He has also caddied for former Ryder Cupper and DP World Tour winner Oliver Wilson, including at the 148th Open Championship, which was held at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland in 2019.

Before he worked for Penge, Chris Selfridge carried for the big-hitting Englishman. But a couple of years ago, during his developmental years, Penge also had his wife Sophie caddie for him; she was also a professional golfer.
At the 2017 Ricoh Women’s British Open at Kingsbarns, the roles were reversed, and Penge caddied for his then-girlfriend when she was a budding amateur golfer.
