It was a day to remember for Lauri Ruuska who carded a phenomenal 59 at the Vierumäki Finnish Challenge on the Challenge Tour.
The Finn was playing on home soil and entered the record books with his opening round of 12-under-par at the Vierumäki Resort.
He went bogey-free for his 59, becoming just the fourth player in European Challenge Tour history to card a sub-60.
Ruuska began his opening round in perfect fashion. Starting on the back 9, he birdied his opening four holes.
He then birdied 17 and 18 to make the turn in six-under-par. An eagle at the par-5 1st hole was followed by another birdie on hole 2.

The Finn then had a run of three consecutive birdies from the 6th hole to move him to the magic mark of 12-under.
A par on the 9th, his last hole of the day, saw him come home in 29.
Adrien Mork and Nicolo Ravano have both carded that score previously, while Spain’s Alejandro Del Rey shot a 58 at the Swiss Challenge in 2021.
It comes just a couple of weeks after Bryson DeChambeau carded the first sub-60 round in LIV Golf history.
The American won the LIV Golf Greenbrier event thanks to a final round 58, just the seventh time a player had ever shot that low in professional golf history.
