We at NCG loved the G/Fore MG4+ O2 golf shoe. Does the spikeless version live up to the performance of its spiked sibling?
The Women’s G/Fore MG4+ O2 Gradient Spikeless Golf Shoe combines style, comfort, and versatility for female golfers seeking performance on and off the course. Designed with an innovative spikeless sole, it offers excellent grip and stability without sacrificing fashion.
In this review, Nicola Slater delves into its fit, comfort, and overall performance to help you decide if the MG4+ O2 Gradient is the perfect choice for you.
The MG4+ 02 gradient golf shoes are the all new spikeless version of the popular MG4+ 02 G/Lock shoes from G/Fore.
They’re a lightweight, stylish pair of spikeless golf shoes that have performed great on the course. I found them to be very supportive and stable as well as being comfortable.
These have the signature G/Fore insoles with the memory foam dimples that offers an interesting foot experience, that’s like a massage as you go round.
Out of the box, I love how stable these shoes look. Without being chunky they have a sporty/modern base that looks very supportive.
In terms of colourway these shoes are really interesting. They offer a gradient design where the front of the the shoe is a beige/champagne colour, fading lighter to a white at the heel. The base of the foam molded external heel is pure white with the sole and internal colour being a deep navy. There are also hints of green with the GFORE wording on the tongue and back, tying it together. G/Fore did send these shoes with a pair of navy laces as another option meaning you can mix and match as needed.
I first tried G/Fore shoes a couple of years ago and got the sizing wrong. These shoes tend to come up half a size smaller than other brands and so if you’re between sizes, definitely go bigger. This time I went for a UK8 which would be my Adidas size too but for reference in FJ/Nike etc I would be a UK7.5. I was really impressed with how comfortable these were straight out of the box. The insoles in G/Fore shoes are also quite unique with their signature 3D molded design. This means your foot essentially sits on lots of tiny bumps which out of the box is quite an odd sensation but one I’m looking forward to testing more on the course. The insoles are removable so you can wash them. The mesh insides are also designed to be breathable for odour control.

On Course Testing
Having been so comfortable out of the box I was excited to test these on the course and they certainly didn’t disappoint. I wore these shoes for a full round at my home course Hickleton Golf Club and didn’t once feel any discomfort. They’re very lightweight on your feet, despite the chunkier looking sole. The internal sole that has the foam dimples feels odd at first wear but then becomes a nice massage like sensation around the course.
In terms of stability I think that these shoes support your ankles great whilst walking around the course and during the swing. They’re not the grippiest pair of spikeless shoes that I’ve tested this year, however they did a great job in the standard Autumnal conditions I tested them in. If you’re looking for a grippy pair of golf shoes be sure to check out the spiked G/Fore MG4+ 02 G/Lock shoes.
Having worn this on a typical Autumnal day in England, we did experience a light shower. The shoes held up great and the bit of mud that was on them after the round was wiped straight off.
NCG Verdict
Overall, I really enjoyed wearing these shoes. They’re incredibly comfortable and will be getting plenty more wear from me in the future.
