Ecco LT1 Golf Shoe

Ecco LT1 Golf Shoe Review

What’s new? How much do they cost? And how do they perform? Dan Murphy brings you the lowdown on the Ecco M Golf LT1 golf shoe.

Ec co shoes are renowned for their innovation, durability and style. All of these traits are identifiable in the EccoLT1. This hybrid shoe uses Ecco LYTR, an advanced bounce and rebound foam that is embedded in the sole. Along with soft PU, this provides contoured comfort and stability in the shoe.

A waterproof membrane keeps your feet dry, while clean, sneaker-style aesthetic and Ecco leather add to the premium look and feel. The Boa Fit system delivers a micro-adjustable precision fit.

For low-to-the-ground stability, the Ecco LT1 has a visible shank and a new outsole promises multi-directional traction and durability.

The OrthoLite insole can be removed for extra width if required for the perfect fit for your foot.

So, how did we find them? Find out in our Ecco LT1 golf shoe review.

NCG SUMMARY

These shoes are premium – that much is obvious from the outset. This was the first time I had worn a pair of Eccos with Boa lacing and I love the way the lock is hidden on the tongue of the shoe and underneath my trousers, rather than being on the heel, where I feel like it is going to get in the way. You can only admire the snugness of the Boa fit – and taking the shoes off at the end of your round is a joy. I am a late convert to Boa but I have well and truly got the memo now.

As well as being incredibly light, these shoes offer exceptional stability too.

PROS

  • Immediate comfort
  • Boa ensures the perfect fit with no foot movement
  • Incredibly light

CONS

  • Only the price tag

Ecco LT1 Golf Shoe: First Impressions

I am very confident in the Ecco fit anyway. Add Boa into the equation and it is remarkable how quickly these feel like a pair of shoes that belong to you. In a nutshell, this is a premium and stylish shoe that is packed with design features that will enhance both your comfort and your performance.

The shoes are also extremely light – just what you want if you are walking for five or six miles.

NCG Verdict

The Ecco LT1 golf shoe is a sound, long-term investment. I am confident that you will be wearing these shoes for years rather than months and they will still be performing at the highest level.

One of the things that I believe sets Ecco shoes apart is that they don’t lose their shape and fit as they get older. In my experience, they are as robust a year on as they were for the first round.

I never feel as though my feet are moving about either as I walk or when I am swinging. For any golfers who are more accustomed to spiked shoes, I can reassure you that the Ecco hybrid sole offers outstanding levels of traction. It doesn’t matter whether I am playing on a grassy parkland or a hard-baked links, I have never experienced any slippage when hitting shots or moving around the course.

For those yet to experience Boa, it really is a game-changer in terms of the fit. You slip your foot into a completely open shoe and then, with a few twists, you have a perfectly snug fit. Better still, it never loosens so no more retying of laces or realising that your foot is moving about within the shoe in mid-round.

At the end of your round, with a single push, the fastening is completely undone and the shoe as good as falls off. It’s a great system, and with the Boa fastener on the tongue of the shoe rather than the heel, it is completely unobtrusive.

Wearing these shoes, I feel connected to the ground when playing shots and there is undoubtedly a high level of stability. But with the trainer style, you still get a huge degree of freedom of movement.

I would say that is the best of both worlds.
