Duca Del Cosma Prato waterproof golf boot review: NCG Summary
NCG SUMMARY
These boots have been an excellent addition to the golf wardrobe. They feel great on, keep you warm and dry, and actually look very smart. Duca Del Cosma have done a fantastic job.
Designed with a wet muddy winter in mind, they are made from a premium soft Italian Nappa leather which cleans up very easily, and a fleece lining that will keep you playing deep into December.
PROS
- Warm
- Very comfortable to wear
- Very grippy for a spikeless shoe
CONS
- Expensive
First Impressions
I will confess that at one time in the past, I have been the golfer poking fun at the old guy wearing golf boots. Normally unstylish, black, and with no good features they could be the best shoes in the world and take 2 shots off my score I would still be pretty reluctant to wear them.
The Duca Del Cosma Prato waterproof golf boots are nothing at all like this. Straight out of the box they look great, the red sole and logo looks smart against the grey and they absolutely could be seen in a high end high street fashion shop. These are not your average golf boots.
Good aesthetics won’t help your golf, however so here’s what’ll actually help your golf: they are fleece-lined and will keep your feet warm throughout the round. They have recycled cork, Arneflex memory foam insoles to keep you comfortable all the way around the golf course and a rubber outsole that features quite big rubber gripping nubs to keep you in place throughout you swing.
On Course Testing
I played golf and tested these boots around Baildon golf club, a very recognisable course to golfers in Yorkshire for being on the side of a moor, where it is always windy and on this day, pretty wet. There’s no doubt that I gave these waterproof golf shoes the most in-depth testing possible during these four hours. My initial concern with the Prato waterproof golf boots is that as spikeless golf shoes, there might be some slipping or lack of traction.
This wasn’t at all the case as the spikeless rubber nubs are designed in multiple directions, to give you 360 degrees of grip. I also found the boots to be extremely waterproof. There is loads of unmowed long cabbage lining the fairways at Baildon which was soaking wet. My feet stayed completely dry throughout all of my unfortunate visits to the deep stuff thanks to Duca Del Cosma’s waterproof bootie system.
It’s also worth pointing out how comfy these boots are, I wore them in the car on the way to the course, out on the course, in the car on the way home, and then out to lunch afterwards surviving the whole day without one urge to take the boots off.
The 19th hole
These are extremely high-quality boots, and wouldn’t look out of place in the golf club bar, or out in town on an evening. As leather, they can be kept smart with a clean and polish and will have a long life if cared for correctly. Even after the spikes are worn I might still keep them for pure social winter outings.
If you are looking for a winter golf shoe the Duca Del Cosma Prato waterproof golf boots might just be perfect for you. They smash all other golf boots out of the park in terms of looks and you can do no better than the fleece lined leather uppers, you will see me in these all winter.
