Laser rangefinder or GPS: Which is better for your game?
Laser rangefinder or GPS: GPS
Pros: You can often get the information you need with a quick glance at your watch or device attached to your bag/trolley.
They are very useful on blind holes and especially on courses you’ve never played before.
Many can be used just as a normal watch for off the course to used for other sports.
They can often sync with your phone for call, text, email and social media updates.
Cons: They can often sync with your phone for call, text, email and social media updates. I’m playing golf, leave me alone.
Some people don’t like to wear a watch when paying golf and some GPS watches can be on the bulky side.
They will need charging up before each round.
Sometimes the course map will not be bang up to date. A new bunker added in the last few months is highly unlikely to be displayed.
On cloudy days it can sometimes take a while to pick up a GPS signal.
