safetee X-Light Protector review

The safetee X-Light Protector is a product that is light, easy to use and prioritises the protection of spectators at the 2023 Ryder Cup

Thousands of golf fans will flock to the Ryder Cup at Marco Simone Golf and Country Club to catch the best view of the best players from both sides of the pond.

But accidents can happen as we’ve seen in the past and the safety of the spectators isn’t always guaranteed when the balls are in the air.

One lady lost her eye after being hit on the head at the 2018 Ryder Cup, which is one of various incidents that have inspired the safetee X-Light Protector.

The safetee X-Light Protector is tailored for both men and women and it is designed to be both highly protective and super comfortable.

With the white, lightweight insert inside the cap, this reduces the energy impact of a ball striking your head up to 87%. The insert slots into the cap without changing its shape.

safetee will be providing protectors to volunteers as an official licensee of the 2023 Ryder Cup. The protector is extremely flexible and can adapt to any head shape.

Weighing only 110 grams and being just 4mm in thickness, this breathable product is an easy and practical way of protecting yourself and giving you peace of mind while watching your favourite players.

“I developed the safetee protector after my wife was almost struck on the head by a golf ball at a tournament three years ago,” Philipp Schneider, CEO of safetee, said.

“I decided to see if a cap protector would make a difference as a precaution if someone was hit by a ball. After three years of developing and testing, we produced the safetee protector, which offers maximum head protection without sacrificing the look or usual comfort of wearing your favourite golf cap on the course.”

What did we think of the safetee X-Light Protector?

It is a product I’ve never seen the like of. The safetee X-Light Protector is a product that prioritises safety on the golf course – something I can’t remember seeing before in the golf clothing market.

Although the insert does somewhat decrease space for your head inside of the cap, it is still comfortable and this slight downside is a small price to pay for the main target of the product – safety.

It is one of the most innovative products I can remember seeing. The insert is easy to put together, with the arch at the back of the cap making it clear which way it goes in.

If we also look at the cap too, the blue camo colour is very attractive and I felt this colour was very in keeping with the themes that are synonymous with the Ryder Cup.

The Ryder Cup symbol standing proud at the front of the cap is a standout feature. The entire design is very striking and it will no doubt prove to be a popular cap among golf fans.
