Callaway Mavrik irons: First Impressions

The new irons look sleek and fast with colouring to support the rest of the range. The club that stands out the most is the more compact pro model which is the only club in the Mavrik range to not feature the Mavrik orange colourway.

Callaway Mavrik irons: The Technology

The new Mavrik irons feature flash face cup technology designed using AI. Each loft has its own face design to enhance the performance of each individual iron.  In the long irons faces are designed for launch and speed whereas the short irons aim to optimise spin and precision.

Tungsten infused allow the centre of gravity to be strategically positioned in each clubhead. Then urethane microspheres are strategically placed to absorb unwanted vibration creating pure feel.

Callaway Mavrik irons: NCG Verdict

Personally on a visual point of view the pro model is the only one I would use in this range due to the slimmer profile with less offset. For me the sole of the Max iron just felt too chunky and didn’t give me optimal turf interaction to get the strike I would like.

Across the range the irons had a really nice high launch angle, the high trajectory was especially noticeable in the max irons. 

I have only hit these on the range so far so I am looking forward to getting them out on the golf course for some more in depth testing.
