4.5 star review
NCG SUMMARY

The GolfBuddy Laser Lite is a perfectly sized, well-designed, and uniquely created rangefinder that lets you know when you have locked your point to the target.

PROS

  • Jolt vibration reassures you have picked up the pin
  • Standard, Pin, and Scan modes are very useful for finding different targets.
  • The small, compact size is good for carrying and ease of use.
  • The carry case is very useful and the white design is striking.

CONS

  • Slight lack of clarity at the end of the lens.
  • Some golfers might not want the choice of three different modes.

GolfBuddy Laser Lite: First Impressions

When I unpacked the GolfBuddy Laser Lite, I was pleasantly surprised with the size of the device. The last thing I wanted was a bulky rangefinder you can barely fit in your pocket.

The colour of the carry case is very striking and it complements the predominantly white colour of the laser.

It is also a very sturdy carry case that will no-doubt keep the device safe for as long as I have it. It safely clips on your bag, so the boxes are ticked in this department.

As we are addressing first impressions in this segment, I liked the clarity of each button (Power and Mode) on the top of the laser.

As simple as this sounds, it’s important your new laser is easy to use without confusion, and the size and clarity of the buttons were helpful.

GolfBuddy Laser Lite: NCG Review

I am probably one of the most inexperienced users of a golf laser in the UK, so I was very grateful for the detailed instruction manual that came with the GolfBuddy Laser Lite.

The jolt vibration was the most useful part of the product. The vibration provides the reassurance you have picked up the flag down the scope, and not anything else in the background.

The vibration saves you from double and triple-checking your number, which is extremely useful for club selection on the golf course, and reduces the time it takes to choose a club too.

The GolfBuddy Laser Lite comes with three different modes which aid range-finding: Standard – the distance to the target, Scan – the distance to various targets, and Pin – the distance of the nearest target between two is picked up.

The lens provides a clear indication with letters as to what mode you are in (S for Scan and P Pin, no letter with Standard). I thought this was an innovative and smart feature of the laser.

Pin mode was particularly helpful when the flagstick was surrounded by a backdrop of trees, as the scope picked up the nearest target.

It is also extremely easy to swap from Slope mode to normal – just hold the Mode button for five seconds.

Once reading this explanation in the instruction manual, all the functions became very clear before teeing off.

The GolfBuddy Laser Lite is very unique in this sense. One concern could be that some golfers just want their rangefinder to do one thing – tell me the yardage.

I’d be concerned some golfers could be turned off by altering options which could cause frustration on the golf course.

Nonetheless, I would implore any nay-sayers to persevere with what is an impressive rangefinder that does the job at a much more reasonable price tag than others.

When looking down the lens, I did struggle with the clarity of the glass at times. The scope was slightly blurry at the end, but this didn’t cause any great issues.

GolfBuddy Laser Lite: Final thoughts

All in all, I was very pleased with the GolfBuddy Laser Lite. The jolt vibration locks you into your target and the different modes are very useful.

The compact, hand-held practicality was very pleasing. The device can go in your pocket, your golf bag, or the carry case attached to the bag.

I outlined one downside to the clarity of the lens with just a touch of fuzziness when picking up targets, but this didn’t greatly diminish the quality of the laser.
