What are our favourite spikeless golf shoes new on the market this year? We run down the best new models from FootJoy, Ecco, Adidas, and more
It’s that time of year again when the fairways are firming up and we start to look for something different than the spiked shoe we’ve trundled round the course in over winter. I rounded up my NCG colleagues Alex Perry, Harvey Jamison and Joe Hughes for our best spikeless golf shoes 2019 review, starting with a trio from FootJoy…
Best spikeless golf shoes 2019: FootJoy Pro/SL
There is a reason FootJoy are the market leaders when it comes to golf shoes. And there is a reason it seems half the guys on tour are wearing the Pro/SL.
You know what you get with FootJoy, whether you’re hitting a few balls on the range or playing 36 holes in a day, you know you can wear these from dusk until dawn with no problems.
When it comes to the technology in the shoe, FootJoy have thought of everything from Laser Plus Tech (which provides supreme comfort) and a three-layered outsole (which provides supreme performance). Who doesn’t want that in a golf shoe?
FootJoy are starting to really get it right in terms of the more athletic-looking shoes. AP
SRP: £150/£170 (BOA)
Best spikeless golf shoes 2019: FootJoy Flex
When I slip on a golf shoes I’m looking for comfort first and traction second.
The Flex are a perfect blend of both.
Two months on I’ve put them through every condition you can think of that isn’t snow and they have stood the test of the elements.
I am pleasantly surprised by the stability of the Flex, something you don’t often get in a spikeless shoe.
One neat feature I really find tasteful and practical is the performance mesh material, which makes the shoes breathable and lightweight – essential for me given the amount of time I spend on the course – as well as giving an athletic look which I’m particularly keen on, while the underfoot cushioning on the sole also gets my nod of approval. HJ
Best spikeless golf shoes 2019: FootJoy SuperLites XP
This is a seriously lightweight shoe, with the foam upper being exceptionally soft and providing excellent comfort.
These are really comfortable if you are walking a lot of holes in the summer and also provide good traction with the spikeless sole. The shoes don’t feel to have as secure fit as some of the other FootJoy spikeless shoes, but still provided great stability out on the golf course. This shoe is fully waterproof. This is an excellent option for a summer shoe that still keep your feet dry during the unpredictable UK weather conditions. HH

Best spikeless golf shoes 2019: Ecco Biom Hybrid 3
These shoes provided instant comfort as soon as I took them out on the course.
One of the elements that impressed me the most was how the Biom Natural motion technology changed the relationship between the shoe and the ground.
Often when wearing golf shoes on slopes it feels like the shoe and terrain are fighting against each other. In the Biom Hybrid 3 I really felt like the shoe moulded to the slopes providing optimal comfort.
These are exceptional golf shoes and deliver on style, comfort and performance. If you are looking for a premium shoe to wear on and off the course, which is well designed and made with quality materials, these are the shoes for you. HH
Ultimately these shoes are designed for summer golf as a lightweight option to provide comfort and breathability in warm weather.
Instantly I could feel the extra flexibility the thinner outsole in this shoe provided. I felt really well connected to the ground and that my foot could follow the contours of the ground more freely.
As with all Ecco shoes these shoes provided optimal comfort out on the golf course. I walked 36 holes with them straight after taking them out of the box and they provided great comfort and support all the way round.
I really like the styling of these shoes and would be happy to wear them both on and off the golf course. I think Ecco have offered a great choice of colours in this shoe too. HH

Best spikeless golf shoes 2019: Adidas Tour360 XT-SL
Who hasn’t owned a pair of Adidas golf shoes in their life?
And thanks to the likes of Dustin Johnson and Sergio Garcia, they’ve become increasingly popular.
Straight out of the box these are very eye-catching. They are clean and stylish, and when it comes to making great looking shoes, no one does it better than Adidas.
In terms of comfort, these are the best shoes Adidas have ever made and the popular ‘Boost’ technology really puts a spring in your step. AP
SRP: £140
Best spikeless golf shoes 2019: Adidas Forgefiber BOA
Just when I thought the Tour360 was the best-looking golf shoe I’d ever seen, a pair of the Adidas Forgefiber land on my desk.
The Forgefiber technology provides added stability through what Adidas calls “unique stitching techniques”, which involves “TPU coated yarn being compressed and heated so it melts into the material of the shoe”. I’m not entirely sure what that means but what I do know is these shoes are not only great looking, but comfortable and durable, too.
These have barely left my feet since I got them. AP

Best spikeless golf shoes 2019: Under Armour Showdown SL
This Under Armour golf shoe combines a soft, modern, comfortable and waterproof golf shoe.
I think this is a really attractive shoe due to the slimline shape and design. The colour of the shoes is very unique and the textured grey, black and green contrasts really nicely with the white.
I feel like this really is a hybrid shoe as I am happy to wear them both on and off the course as they have trainer like styling and feel really sporty.
The spikeless sole still provides great stability for the swing due to the unique rubber spike design. I felt like they provided a really stable hitting platform when out on the course, I also found they provided lots of ankle support.
The shoes are exceptionally comfy to wear. They are also very easy to clean which is important in a golf shoe. HH
The Ignite NXT are perhaps the most diverse spikeless shoes on the market, perfect for wearing off the course as well as on it.
Puma have designed the shoes in a clever way that combines classic golfing style with modern day casual demands and the colour ways available all offer a slightly different look.
The style is made even more appealing by the one-year waterproof guarantee. We are often subjected to summer showers in the UK, so it’s a bonus knowing your feet will stay dry should the heavens open.
In terms of a comfort and stability, these shoes tick the boxes. The comfort from the first wear is brilliant and the many lugs that populate the sole of the shoe work well to help remain stable through the golf swing.

I wore my usual size 9 in this style and there was plenty of space for movement. I would recommend buying the size which you usually wear in shoes. JH
SRP: £110

Best spikeless golf shoes 2019: Duca del Cosma Monterosso Ecru
If you fancy something a little bit different, the Duca Del Cosma range will get your friends talking.
I tried out the Monterosso Ecru (pictured below) because they were the closest to my personal tastes, but if you’re after a range that really does offer something for everyone then be sure to check them out.
Straight away you can tell these are a premium product by the quality of the leather which creates an extremely soft comfortable shoe and provides great cushioning all around the collar. I also was really impressed with the grip these shoes provided. AP
Best spikeless golf shoes 2019: Skechers Go Golf Mojo
This is my third pair of Skechers golfs shoes which says a lot. Although I thought that I would never say this – these are even better than my current pair!
Notwithstanding my broad feet, these shoes are incredibly comfortable, more akin to a soft pair of trainers than golf shoes. Light and flexible, that felt as comfortable at the end of my round as at the beginning.
I love the looks, the light grey colour looks class and the addition of luminous green trims and sole adds a touch of modernity
The spike less soles work brilliantly in both the wet and dry and allow comfortable use around the patio and 19th ‘spike’ bar – do you remember spikes – seems so last century now. HH
Best spikeless golf shoes 2019: G/Fore Men’s Cap Toe Gallivanter
As my first pair of G/Fore shoes, I was looking forward to trying these out, they look fantastic and the performance has not disappointed, either.
The classic toe cap look has been modernised by the finish and colour, which I feel made the shoe fit perfectly with the golfing attire that is commonly worn today.
On the first outing, the back for the shoe did feel fairly tough on the heel, but this was to be expected as this is the case with most golf shoes due to the materials used. After a few wears, the shoes are nicely broken in and comfortable.
Despite falling into the spikeless category, I was impressed with the Gallivanter’s stability and grip. Even when I found myself standing on uneven lies in tricky areas of the course, the shoe helped to keep me balanced and stable.
Overall, a really good spikeless option which I believe looks much more attractive than some others on the market and does a sterling job in terms of performance. JH
