First Impressions
When it comes to golf I have always been a bit of a brand snob, concentrating exclusively on what the main brands have to offer. I was excited when I got the opportunity to review the Big Max Dri Lite Sport 3 and was intrigued whether it could knock me out of my stubborn, some might say outdated, views.
Initial impressions were that it is a fantastic looking bag and so light. I excitedly started exploring all of the pockets and it wasn’t long before I’d emptied my own cart bag and was setting up my clubs in their new home.
On course performance
The Big Max Dri Lite comes in four different colour combinations, but looking at the options available, the black & taupe one that I tested would be the one that I would choose. My only concern would be whether the taupe may get dirty over time.
With all the clubs and accessories that I carry these days, my bag quickly becomes very heavy but the lightweight design of the Big Max made it refreshingly easy to lift in and out of the car. This was helped by some well placed handles.
I use a Motocaddy trolley and the bag fitted securely, with the cut out base fitting perfectly into place. My initial concern was that there was no feed for the holding strap but as I made my way around the course, the bag never moved and the strap didn’t slip out of place.

The bag claims to be water resistant but the fine weather didn’t allow me to test that promise out. However, the material and sealed zips looked like they would cope with most conditions. Having double zips on the pockets is a massive plus, allowing greater access and flexibility.
Whilst considering bad weather, the accompanying hood was easy to fit and again came with double zips for easy access to clubs. A great feature was the rain hood pocket on the back of the bag, an area that is usually under utilised by manufacturers.
Once the bag was on the trolley I realised there was no way to hold the carry strap in place and so I used one of the two umbrella pockets.
The 14 way divider is good for organising and protecting your clubs and the large putter slot gives easy access when you get around the greens.
With 10 pockets you will never struggle for space to house all your equipment. The two main side pockets are vast and all of the other pockets easy to access. I like the valuables pockets but would have preferred it if one of them didn’t have the divide in it, as I usually find these additional side pockets useful to store my caps.
The design of the oversized cooler pocket is brilliant and is certainly on trend to accommodate the large water bottles that seem to be popular these days.
Big Max Dri Lite Sport 3 cart bag review: Final Thoughts
I was really impressed with the Big Max Dri Lite Sport 3. It has some fantastic features, looks great and gives great adaptability for all your storage needs. It feels light on the trolley and this makes the trolley easy to manoeuvre.
The separate pocket for the rain hood is a great design and if they had only included retaining straps for the carry strap and the trolley strap I think they would have got the perfect mix.
