There’s a new name in golf apparel
There is a new name in the golf apparel market as Perry Ellis International expand their Farah business into our sport.
Farah is a historic menswear brand, founded in Texas in 1920, but finding its spiritual home in the UK in the late 1960s. Famous for its hopsack trousers, Farah and its golden F-Tab logo has been adopted by many British style subcultures over the decades, from mods to rude boys, casuals to indie kids.
Farah golf apparel: First impressions
Farah’s collection for spring summer 2022 focused on signature prints, textured patterns and subtle details. I really like the fusion of classic and modern styling such as the contrasting collar on the Frankston polo.
The brand are focusing on what they have always done well, delivering contemporary style in well fitted garments.
As with the rest of the brand’s menswear collection we see the use of the ‘F’ motif across the designs, including on branded buttons and zip. It does have its own spin though coming in a golf specific frosty green.
Alongside more classic designs are statement pieces with seasonal prints. I love the bold look of the Dallas polo.
All of the polo shirts are made from lightweight performance fabrics sourced specifically for golf. The Hoxie polo also features fabric made from plant-based recyclable fabric called Sorona.
Across the range distinct golf details have been thought about including special scorecard pockets in the ranges trousers and wind proofing in the mid layers. Farah Golf is really all about delivering performance clothing to enhance golfers playing experience.
I think this range is going to be really popular in the sport especially with a younger consumer. The balance is really nice as the designs are fresh and bold but still have classic golfing details.
