NCG Summary
The MC70 spiked golf shoe from Adidas combines a traditional look with style. The design is inspired by the iconic 1970s Adidas aesthetic. The leather upper helps with the timeless look whilst also being very practical.
The rubber spiked outsole gave lots of grip walking around the golf course even on the muddier areas. They’re not a shoe packed with foam but the Boost midsole does a great job at providing both comfort and support.

Key benefits and downsides
| Key benefits | Downsides |
|---|---|
| Sturdy – The genuine leather make up with a Cast PU outsole offers great stability when walking and hitting shots. | Potential issues with sizing – These shoes come up very small having to go up half a size. |
| Weight– Some traditional looking golf shoes can be very heavy, the MC70s are a good weight. | |
| Replaceable spikes – This is great as if and when your spikes wear down they can just be replaced. |
First Impressions
Adidas states how these shoes are inspired by the 1970s aesthetic and they have very much nailed that. Golf fashion as a whole seems to be moving back to more traditional looks so the MC70s are very much on trend. The white leather upper feels firm and sturdy. This isn’t a synthetic leather it’s a genuine waterproof leather so it will soften with wear.

The sole has rubber spiked outsole. These are sharp and ready to grip and terrain that you need to tackle out on the course. The fastening is lace that also follows the traditional style.
In terms of colourway, the pair I wore is a limited edition design to welcome the start of major season. Adidas does a regular all black pair or white with navy detailing.
Size Up
In terms of size, my general rule of thumb is to go up half a size in Adidas shoes as I always find them to come up small. I would wear a UK7.5 as standard, so in FootJoy or Nike but always opt for an 8 in Adidas. These were the perfect fit for me. In terms of width, I don’t have wide feet and there was a fair bit of wiggle room in the toe box but not in the mid section of the shoe.
As per the Adidas website, these are a unisex pair of shoes so the sizing range is from uk3.5 through to uk14.

How I undertook the review
I undertook the review by wearing the golf shoes over two full rounds at my home club, Hickleton Golf Club. This allowed me to valuate their performance in real playing conditions. At the time of testing the weather in the UK is somewhat mixed and so the shoes had to encounter damp and muddy conditions. So, a good test of their stability and ease to clean.
During these rounds, I paid close attention to comfort, grip, and durability.
What I found
Putting the MC70s on I was skeptical about how comfortable they would be straight out on the box and onto the golf course. I was brave and headed out for a full round but thankfully they were comfortable. I did find that after about 15 holes in the first round I had some rubbing of my left heel but this went away on the next round.

Stability
With the build these shoes I knew that they would be very sturdy and supportive. The firmer leather construction meant that my ankles were very well protected. The boost midsole wasn’t packed with foam but it gave a nice level of comfort and support.

Durability
After the couple of rounds I did start to see some creasing on the upper part of the shoe. This is something that can happen with genuine leather golf shoes. There was no signs of wear other than that and they were very easy to wipe over to clean up.
Waterproof qualities
That genuine leather make up is great as it makes the MC70 golf shoes fully waterproof. I wore these shoes during a light rain shower and there was no signs of water getting in.
NCG Final Say
Overall, these are a great pair of golf shoes that combine a traditional style with comfort. They do a great job at supporting your feet when playing and made from quality materials they’re a great investment for any serious golfer.
