It’s engineered for the faster-swinging player who demands consistency from tee to green. Backed by more than 70 tour players, it’s a serious contender in the premium ball category. While the visual design might not be to everyone’s taste and the spin numbers aren’t the best on short shots, the overall package is undeniably impressive.

Bridgestone Tour B X Golf Ball Review: First Impressions

The Tour B X is packed with cutting-edge tech. The headline feature is the REACTIV X Smart Cover, a clever material innovation that adapts its behaviour depending on the club used. Off the driver, it rebounds quickly to promote ball speed. From wedges, I found it stays on the face longer to deliver improved spin and control. That’s a tricky balance to strike, but Bridgestone pulls it off well.

Bridgestone has also included a Gradational Core, which is softer in the centre and firmer towards the edges. It essentially mimicking the benefits of a multi-layer construction in a more seamless way. To put it plainly, the result is improved energy transfer and greater stability through the bag.

Further enhancing aerodynamics is Dual Dimple Technology, a design aimed at reducing drag while promoting a more efficient, penetrating flight. Combine that with a seamless cover design and an intricately crafted emerald dimple pattern, and you’ve got a golf ball that’s built to fly straight, true, and consistently.

NCG Verdict

I found from the very first swing, the Tour B X gives off a premium feel. Off the putter face, I thought it was firm but responsive, with a unique visual character due to the busy dual-dimple design. While this might be a change from the more classic aesthetic of, say, a Pro V1, it didn’t prove a distraction.

As you can see from the data below, with wedges the ball delivered a solid 7,500 RPM of spin which wasn’t the highest spinning ball I have tested in its class, but certainly in the top tier. But, more importantly, the spin was consistent for me, ideal when pitching or playing into firm greens.

Moving up the bag, I was able to produce an average of 116 mph ball speed with a seven iron, albeit with one poor strike slightly skewing the data. Remove that outlier and it would have been more at 117–118 mph, which is exceptional. My spin averaged over 6,000 RPM, leading to a carry distance of 162 yards and total rollout to 170 yards which is very solid.

Driver performance was equally impressive: 161 mph ball speed with 2,400 RPM spin almost every time. I find that kind of consistency is rare and makes the Tour B X a standout for those who prioritise repeatable numbers and trustworthy trajectories.

Final Verdict

Overall, Bridgestone claims that over 70 Tour players currently have this ball in play, and based on our testing, it’s easy to see why. From tee to green, the Tour B X offers a remarkable blend of speed, control, and consistency.

For those who value dependable performance and refined tech, it’s absolutely worth the investment. Whether you’re chasing extra yards or looking for unwavering spin into tight pins, the Tour B X is a genuine five-star performer.

About the author

Callaway Epic Max driver review
Jack Backhouse

A member of the PGA for 13 years, Jack has lived golf for more than half his life. Inspired by Tiger Wood’s winning putt at the 2008 US Open, an obsession began with watching slow motion golf swings on the internet and reading What’s In The Bag articles in magazines.

Not destined for a life behind the desk in a pro shop, Jack has focussed more on coaching, working closely with regional teams in North Yorkshire and helping golfers of all levels on their journey to enjoying playing the game more. Jack has coached many junior golfers into the county teams, and once worked with a player at the 2018 Open Championship at Carnoustie.

After letting his game fall apart prior to COVID, Jack rediscovered his love for playing golf after joining Silloth Golf Club in 2020 and whipping round the windy, firm links course. Playing regularly with a half set of clubs he has a passion for shot making and developing skill, and claims to have the sharpest 30-100 yard game in the North of England (only because he doesn’t know anyone in the South), and now maintains a +1 handicap at a club much closer to home, Sand Moor GC.

Jack has always tinkered with his equipment, once building his own Frankenstein one length set of clubs after watching Bryson DeChambeau burst onto the scene after winning the US Amateur. He firmly believes in getting custom fit and is happy to debate anyone about blade irons being superior to any other iron category.

Jack loves: playing quickly, 2 ball golf, match play, heathland courses, pencil bags, foursomes, Tiger Wood’s swing 2005-2009.

Jack hates: buggies, unnecessary trees, giving shots, the 7 iron loft debate, graphite shaft lovers weird superiority complex.
