You may be forgiven for thinking that Payntr only produce quality shoes – be it golf or cricket. However, they also supply a good selection of golf accessories – including two golf gloves. The Payntr X and X-002 golf glove.

This review will take a look at the Payntr X golf glove – the slightly more expensive option of the two, which incorporates a NeverWet™️coating to help when playing in wetter conditions.

First Impressions

I am fairly picky when it comes to golf gloves so I was interested to see how the Payntr X performed.

First impressions were good. It comes nicely presented in a modern pack. It has a chunky rubber fastener with a red X on white. The fastener has an elasticated area where is attached to the rest of the glove which is a clever touch as I have ripped countless gloves exactly in this area. The glove is fully leather. A small rubberised Payntr logo sits unobtrusively at the cuff on the palm side.

I normally wear a medium, but I do like my gloves to be tight. I tried a medium-large and it fitted well with no bagginess so maybe this is a better size for me. I would say the size is therefore pretty consistent with other brands. The leather feels premium being very supple and thin without being flimsy.

I like the fact that it has a very short cuff. There is no flapping about of excess material. The elasticated fastener lets you get a snug fit without too much tension and makes me wonder why this is not a more common feature. It has to contribute to the longevity of the glove.

On Course Testing

Moving on to putting it into use ,the grip was excellent and the fit provided a stable grip throughout the swing. Payntr use Neverwet ™ technology for this glove to make it usable in the wet. I tried it with some moisture on it and the grip was pretty good. It is not a wet weather glove per-se but the technology would hopefully get you through a shower while playing.

I own couple of older Payntr gloves and I can attest to their durability. This is the more premium other two gloves but the other one is an excellent glove but a bit thicker so it depends what you like.

At a RRP of £19.99 it represents good value and at the time of writing there were excellent reductions, as well as a 3 for 2 offer, on the Payntr website making it a bargain for a glove of this quality.
