Being the most played ball on the PGA Tour, the Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls need no introduction. The brand have introduced a new iteration for 2025 which are engineered to deliver more speed off the tee, more control with the irons and more spin with the wedges.

Synonymous with high performance the Pro Vs are the most used golf balls on the professional tours and are just as popular amongst amateur golfers. Titleist golf ball players won 34 times last year on the PGA TOUR, more than six times the nearest competitor which had five wins.

The 2025 models, although not yet available to the public, already have four wins across the global professional tours in the six weeks that followed the new models’ official launch at the Shriners Children’s Open.

Let’s take a look at the latest techology Titleist have implemented into the signature and iconic golf ball range which makes them so successful.

The Technology

Both the Pro V1 and Pro V1x are constructed with a new faster high gradient core which helps to deliver more speed for enhanced distances along with increased iron and wedge spin for more control. Changes to the core came through a complete reformulation where Titleist engineers were able to steepen the spin slope to promote these spin preferences.

Additionally, both golf balls have spherically tiled, 388 tetrahedral dimple design although promotes different ball flights for each ball type.

The dimple design optimises distance and delivers a penetrating and consistent flight for the Titleist Pro V1. On the other hand, the Titleist Pro V1x promotes a more high flight with even more consistency.

Other technological additions include a speed amplifying high-flex casing layer. This amplifies speed and contributes to low long game spin which helps to increase distance off the tee, for example.

A higher spin rate is promoted by both balls for approach shots and chip shots from a soft cast Urethane Elastomer Cover. This cover provides excellent green side spin so golfers have more control when hitting into the putting surface.

About the author

Max Mcvittie

A bit of a late bloomer to the game of golf, Max fell in love with the sport when he attended Saturday coaching sessions down at his local golf club after being inspired by friends and family members.

Max has remained a member of Eden Golf Club in Carlisle for a number of years now as he looks to get his handicap down into single figures. Most of his golfing career has been spent battling a permanent slice off the tee, which has led to some ugly rounds.

Having studied at the University of Sunderland, Max is starting out his dream career in sports journalism. During his time at university, he picked up valuable work experience at Reach PLC, BBC Radio Cumbria and GiveMeSport, whilst also getting work published in the Teesside Live. He also spent time working at a local weekly newspaper, Eskdale and Liddesdale Advertiser, as a general news reporter partially covering some local sport just north of the border in Langholm.

Max has just started his journey with the NCG working as the assistant equipment editor. He looks forwarded to reviewing the latest golf equipment, taking up an interest in reviews when buying his first golf club, a Cleveland RTX wedge.

With his bag not going under too many changes throughout the last few years, Max carries an M3 driver, Titleist GT3 Fairway Wood, M2 hybrid, a set of M2 irons, Callaway Jaws wedges and a TaylorMade Spider putter. And yes, Max is a bit of a self-proclaimed TaylorMade fan boy.
