With so many golf trolleys on the market all with different features on offer it can be quite overwhelming when it comes to choosing which one best suits you. The FX3 is PowaKaddy’s most basic electric trolley, designed for those golfers who just want a trolley without any fancy add ons. I took it out for a spin to see how it performed…

First impressions
The Freeway series from PowaKaddy has been a popular trolley choice for many years. Renamed in 2019 the Freeway series became known as the FX collection. The FX3 is one of the newest additions to the family.
Despite being the most basic model, the FX3 is just as impressive looks-wise as its more expensive counterparts. The sleek-looking built-in battery and wide display screen leave a very modern sporty look. The FX3 model is available in classic black or polar white, both featuring the classic grey handle grips and yellow PowaKaddy detailing. As well as being easy on the eye, it was easy to assemble with just one click folding system unfolding the whole trolley.
The simplicity continued when it came to the functioning of the trolley. One dial controls the stopping, starting, and speed.
The technology
Whilst the FX3 is one of PowaKaddy’s more simple models, it still has some notably great features to mention.
PowaKaddy’s Plug ‘n’ Play battery is featured in all of the FX and CT models this year. The lightweight battery is very compact and sits nicely in the frame. An added button allows you to turn the battery on and off, which is ideal if you want to leave the battery in whilst the trolley is folded up.
When it comes to storing the FX3 it is certainly not PowaKaddy’s smallest option but with the one-click folding mechanism, it is one of the quickest and easiest. In comparison to former FX models, the FX3 folds up 20% smaller. However, if this is still taking up too much room the back wheels are easily removable.

Have you ever had one of those annoying moments where you’ve accidentally caught the power button on your trolley and the next minute you’re chasing it down the fairway? Well, with PowaKaddy’s anti-temper dial that’s a problem of the past. The central power button means the trolley only moves when you hit the middle of the dial. The dial also controls the 9-speed power system which is displayed on the newly sized 2.3″ screen along with the battery status.
NCG Verdict
Out on the course, the FX3 performed very well. I enjoyed the central control dial which can be accessed from both your right or left hand. The lightweight frame made the maneuvering of the trolley very easy despite having a fairly packed bag. With the course at the time being quite muddy I found that the narrow sports wheels were quite slippy however these can be easily changed for the PowaKaddy winter wheels if needed.
Being a member of a fairly hilly course I also face the challenge of trying to keep my bag secure on the slopes. The built-in bungee straps did a great job keeping my bag firmly locked in place along with the Key-Lock bag system to stop it from twisting. Speaking of hills the FX3 wasn’t fazed by the steep inclines. I found myself walking at around speed 4 and so there was a lot more power when needed. Unlike older trolleys, the FX3 was almost silent and remained this way even when tackling those slopes.
Overall, I really enjoyed using this trolley. As PowaKaddy’s entry model it is the most basic however if you’re after an easy-to-use, stylish electric trolley this ones for you.
