  • Ecco biom c5: the details

While the Ecco Biom C5s may look like a fashion shoe designed with holiday golf in mind, the truth is that it offers way more besides. You should not judge a book by its cover and the same is true of of a pair of golf shoes.

Let me explain. Ecco shoes are far from cheap but you are getting much more than the undeniable shelf appeal when you make the investment. With Ecco, you can rely on longevity, elite performance and comfort.

The Ecco Biom C5s have much more to them than you might realise at first glance.

Yes, they are extremely light and sporty. But once you slip your feet into them you will realise that they are more stable than you might imagine.

For me, the perfect pair of golf shoes offer the all-day comfort and freedom-of-movement of a trainer with the stability, support and durability of a proper shoe. Well, the Ecco Biom C5s are doing exactly that.

So, how did we find this latest model from the Danish shoemakers in detail? Find out in our Ecco Golf Biom C5 golf shoe review.

First Impressions

They are so white! You really do get that new shoe feeling when unboxing your Ecco Biom C5s. The lightweight, breathable mesh effectively provides an additional sock. You immediately feel like the shoe is snug and there will be no slippage.

Right from the first swing, there is no resistance and the shoe bends as and where you need it to do so.

As a long-time Ecco fan, I know their shoes fit my feet well and these are no exception. From the moment I put them on, I didn’t want to take them off again.

I tested the laced version – the Ecco Biom C5s are also available in Boa, which will give you an even snugger fit, while adding a tiny bit of bulk. I would say the lace versions are more than adequate in terms of offering a secure fit.

On-course Performance

I really like looking down on these shoes when standing over a chip or a putt as they look the part. There is no distraction on the top of the shoe so you can concentrate on the task at hand.

I hit shots in these shoes off a large mat on the practice area and then from damp tees and fairways. I experienced no slippage at any point.

When moving around the course, the Ecco Biom C5s felt lighter and springier than my usual shoes.

Thanks to the Gore-Tex Surround waterproof technology – no doubt – my feet were completely dry when I came off the course despite the damp conditions I had played in.

NCG Verdict

If you are going to play a lot of golf this year in a range of conditions then investing in a pair of Ecco Biom C5s will prove to be a smart decision. You are going to find that they will serve you exceptionally well over a long period of time.

The fit is great from the moment you pull them on and it only gets better over time. Whereas just about every other golf shoe I have ever worn gets progressively saggier and tattier over time, my experience with previous Ecco shoes is they just keep holding their shape and maintaining their performance round after round after round. I am sure these will be just the same.

They require minimum upkeep and while that out-of-the-box whiteness inevitably fades over time, the performance really does not.

So for serious golfers who demand performance as well as looks from their shoes, the Ecco Biom C5s are right at the top of the list.
