  • Callaway 2026 chrome tour golf ball review: the details

The Callaway Chrome Tour is a premium four-piece golf ball designed to deliver high-level performance for players with faster swing speeds. Positioned slightly firmer than the Chrome Soft, it provides excellent distance, high spin rates, and superior control around the greens. With players like Xander Schauffele gaming this ball Callaway have now released an improved 2026 model – with the introduction of a new material in order to produce faster ball speed. Find out how it performs in our Callaway 2026 Chrome Tour golf ball review…

5 star review
NCG SUMMARY

The Callaway Chrome Tour is a golf ball that is definitely more suited to faster swinging players. If you are able to utilise the Callaway Chrome Tour then you will unlock a nice, soft feel around the greens as well as top-level short game control on the putting surface.

For 2026 Callaway hasn’t touched the spin but has focused on producing a faster ball – making this ball 16% firmer/stiffer than before with the use of new material – the revolutionary Tour Fast Mantle

PROS

  • Exceptional short-game spin
  • Low driver spin for optimal distance
  • Excellent control and stopping power
  • Great alignment design options

CONS

First Impressions

Packaging and ball design has remained very much the same as last years Callaway Chrome Tour ball. As per previous years Callaway has released the 2026 model in different alignment options. These different options include the standard model as well as the Triple Track and Tru Track. Having a range of alignment options allows golfer’s too choose their preference for optimal alignment.

Test results

Callaway have stated how they were happy with the spin numbers produced by last years Chrome Tour and didn’t want to change that. I tested the Chrome Tour at an indoor facility using a SkyTrak, starting with pitching wedge I was pleased with the spin numbers and overall consistency of the ball.

The Seamless Tour Aero Urethane Cover helps to deliver this consistent ball flight and reliable spin characteristics on the green. For both on and off-centred strikes

With a 7-iron, the Chrome Tour was again very consistent. I’m not a player who generates a lot of spin but this was a few hundred RPM short of what I’d usually expect to see. However, there are no complaints with carry distance.

Callaway 2026 Chrome Tour Golf Ball review

Whilst Callaway didn’t want to alter the spin of the ball they did want to make it faster off the face. This ball is more tailored towards higher swing speed players, with a new faster mantle being used. This is a new material in the golf industry, that has take 4 years to develop. Callaway is the first company to use this material and it 16% ’stiffer’ than before. This means that it increases ball speed by acting as a stiffer spring.

Distance off the tee also wasn’t an issue with this golf ball. The Callaway Chrome Tour is equipped with a Hyper Fast Speed Core which works to deliver a blend of distance and the firmer than that of the standard Chrome Soft. Callaway’s core design helps to enhance the energy transfer for the quicker ball speeds for the strong performance with the driver but retain the softness for the short game.

The data table above shows how to Chrome Tour performed with driver. It produced a lower spin than I am use to seeing but ball speed and carry numbers were pretty good.

NCG Verdict

Overall, this is a strong ball option for players with higher swing speeds. For me it felt a little too firm but numbers wise I absolutely cannot fault it – no doubt it is a top performing premium golf ball.
