Cobra King F6 Baffler Fairway Wood launched
A Rickie Fowler fan? Well, Cobra Golf have introduced the King F6 Baffler fairway wood especially for the American.
One of the most recognisable people in golf. His Sunday all-orange outfit has captured the mind of a younger audience into the golf world. The draw of Rickie Fowler has now initiated Cobra Golf to launch the King F6 Baffler fairway wood after it was created specially for the American.
Here’s everything you need to know about Fowler’s fairway wood.
The Technology
The Baffler moniker first featured on Cobra golf clubs more than 40 years ago but has been re-introduced in the King range after Fowler’s coach recommended he play something with rails for better turf interaction.
A prototype with welded rails was created using Rickie’s Bio Cell 5-wood which he ended up putting in the bag.
The rails on the new KING F6 Baffler also help golfers exit divots more smoothly.
The front of the rails improve turf forgiveness from any lie, while the back of the rails help to glide out of the turf more smoothly.
The F6 Baffler Fairway has two Center of Gravity (CG) positions. It also has 15-gram and 3-gram moveable weights that can be exchanged to deliver penetrating or towering trajectory.
The MyFly8 loft sleeve delivers eight loft positions ranging from 16˚-19˚.
“The KING F6 Baffler will help golfers glide smoothly out of the turf, helping get the ball up in the air from anywhere on the golf course,” said Jose Miraflor, Senior Director of Product Marketing & Creation, COBRA Golf.
“This is a key club that Rickie Fowler has in the bag on Tour, changing back and forth between this KING fairway and his KING Utility Iron.”
On the F6 Baffler, Cobra engineers continue to use a two-piece metalwood construction. This sees the forged 455ss face is welded on to a hollow body.
Utilising a higher strength steel forged face allows engineers to make the club thinner and lighter for increased speed and forgiveness.
The club is also slightly shorter in length, 41.75in. A standard 5-wood is approximately 42.5in, which allows golfers to be a little steeper and more aggressive when needing to get the ball in the air.
