NCG’s golf betting tips – the ZOZO, LIV Golf, Andalucia and more…

It’s a busy week on the greens, but who is going to win you some money over the next seven days?

PGA Tour, DP World Tour, LPGA, LIV Golf… We’ve got you covered when it comes to golf betting this week!

For the second week in a row, the DP World Tour is in Spain. This time for the Estrella Damm Andalucia Masters. Meanwhile, the PGA Tour heads east to Japan for the ZOZO Championship.

There’s a stacked field in South Korea this week, with eight of the top ten women on the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings descending on Seowon Valley Country Club for the BMW Ladies Championship.

The Hero Women’s Indian Open will showcase the best talent on the Ladies European Tour, and there’s also the small matter of one of the biggest prize purses in golf.

Trump National Doral will play host to the LIV Golf Miami Team Championship, where a total of $50 million is on offer.

Who should you be putting your money on? Matt Coles takes a look at the main contenders at the big events this week.

ZOZO Championship betting tips and preview

Venue: Narashino Country Club, Japan
Date: October 19-22, 2023
Course stats: Par 70, 7,079 yards
Defending champion: Keegan Bradley (-15)

Hideki Matsuyama @ 16/1 with William Hill

You just simply have to back the home favourite when it comes to playing the ZOZO Championship in Japan.

Hideki golf betting tips

Hideki Matsuyama, the 2021 Masters Champion, is a previous winner at Narashino, and he will have the home fans right behind him.

Matsuyama is currently 16/1 to become the first two-time winner at one of the PGA Tour’s newest events.

Min Woo Lee @ 20/1 with William Hill

Did you see what Min Woo Lee did this week? Did you see how he decimated the field in Macau?

The Australian was 30-under-par for the week, thanks to rounds of 62, 64, 65 and 63.

20/1 says Lee carries that form into the ZOZO this week in Japan.

Best of the rest…

Keegan Bradley: The American is 25/1 to retain the title he won last season. After being the surprise snub from the US Ryder Cup team, Bradley will want to show Zach Johnson that he should have been in that 12-man squad.

Collin Morikawa: Can this be the week that Morikawa ends the two-year drought? He hasn’t won since the 2021 DP World Tour Championship, but he is second favourite for a win at Narashino. Morikawa is 11/1 for victory.

Estrella Damm Andalucia Masters betting tips and preview

Venue: Real Club de Sotogrande, Spain
Date: October 19-22, 2023
Course stats: Par 72, 7,099 yards
Defending champion: Adrian Otaegui (-19)

Adrian Otaegui @ 33/1 with William Hill

The defending Estrella Damm Andalucia Masters champion is Adrian Otaegui, and he will be looking to win on home soil for a second year in a row.

Adrian Otaegui golf betting tips

He came home in a tie for 28th at the acciona Open de Espana at the weekend, and his form has been trending in the right direction since missing the cut at The Renaissance Club back in July.

Otaegui has two runner-up finishes since his last win, coming 2nd at both the Alfred Dunhill Championship and the KLM Open this season. Can he go one better this week? The Spaniard is 33/1 to win in front of his home crowd and become just the second multiple-time winner of the event.

Marcel Siem @ 55/1 with William Hill

After a couple of missed cuts, Germany’s Marcel Siem came back into form on Spanish soil last week.

The German came home T4 at the acciona Open de Espana, after firing in a 10-under-par final round on Sunday afternoon.

55/1 says Siem can continue that form into the Estrella Damm Andalucia Masters this week.

Best of the rest…

Wyndham Clark: The reigning US Open champion is currently 10/1, and the favourite to win this week at Sotogrande. Can he win for the first time on European soil come Sunday?

Ryan Fox: The Kiwi has been in amazing form recently, which included a win at the BMW PGA Championship. T3 in Ireland and T2 at the Alfred Dunhill Links – don’t bet against Ryan Fox to be in amongst it again this week. He is 12/1 to take the win at Sotogrande.

LIV Golf Miami betting tips and preview

Venue: The Blue Monster at Trump National Doral, Florida, United States
Date: October 20-22, 2023
Course stats: Par 72, 7,609 yards
Defending champion: 4Aces GC

4Aces GC @ 7/2 with William Hill

It’s a different format this week for the season-ending LIV Golf Miami Team Championship, but I still fancy 4Aces GC to get the job done.

4Aces GC

They are the defending team champions having won at Doral in 2022, and they are the favourites to go back-to-back this year.

Dustin Johnson’s team, with Patrick Reed, Pat Perez and Peter Uihlein, are currently just 7/2 to be the winners on Sunday in Miami.

Fireballs GC @ 11/1 with William Hill

After a quick start to the season, Fireballs GC had a lull during the middle part of the campaign.

A runner-up finish in Chicago was followed by a team victory on Sunday in Jeddah, as the solidified 6th in the standings.

Yes they will have to play the extra day, but that could suit them down to the ground. 11/1 says Sergio Garcia’s men are victorious.

Best of the rest…

Torque GC: The Latino side of Joaquin Niemann, David Puig, Sebastian Munoz and Carlos Ortiz come into the team championship at 5/1, having won four events this season.

Range Goats GC: Bubba Watson’s men, who have been led by the exploits of three-time winner Talor Gooch in 2023, are the joint second favourites at 4/1.

BMW Ladies Championship betting tips and preview

Venue: Seowon Valley Country Club, South Korea
Date: October 19-22, 2023
Course stats: Par 72, 6,647 yards
Defending champion: Lydia Ko (-21)

Lilia Vu @ 14/1 with William Hill

Having lost out in a play-off on Sunday, two-time major champion Lilia Vu will be wanting to get back in the winners’ circle this week.

She lost out to Solheim Cup team-mate Angel Yin at the Buick LPGA Shanghai, but the Chevron Championship and AIG Women’s Open champion is again one of the favourites this week.

The World No.1 is 14/1 to win in Seowon Hills come Sunday afternoon.

Rose Zhang @ 33/1 with William Hill

She came onto the professional scene with a bang, winning her maiden LPGA Tour event. Since then, Rose Zhang has three top-ten major finishes and a Solheim Cup appearance.

Rose Zhang

Her T9 result at the Amundi Evian Championship is her most recent top-ten to date.

33/1 says that changes this week, and golf’s newest female star secures her second LPGA Tour title.

Best of the rest…

Jin Young Ko: She is the current World No.3 and the leading South Korean in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings. Jin Young Ko is also a three-time winner of the tournament, and she is the favourite this week at 10/1 to win again on home soil.

Lydia Ko: The defending BMW Ladies Champion is New Zealand’s Lydia Ko. The Kiwi has not been in great form recently, but coming back to a venue where she has good memories could spark an upturn in form. At 100/1, the former World No.1 is very much worth a punt.

Mention a European country, and Matt will tell you which resorts make the National Club Golfer Top 100s: European Resorts list. He might even throw in who designed the golf course and how many rooms the hotel has got at each one…

Matt got into the game of golf from a young age, following his old man to the local golf club. He fell for the sport, and now can’t seem to go a day without thinking about how to improve his game (Thanks Dad!). Matt has been a member of Howley Hall GC in Leeds since 2020, and is just about managing to maintain a single-figure handicap. He likes to remind people that he once broke 75, but won’t tell people that it was on a shortened course during the winter.

He moved to Leeds after graduating from the University of Central Lancashire with a First Class Honours degree in Sports Journalism. Matt joined NCG after almost five years travelling the world with the Professional Squash Association, working on events in all four corners of the globe.

Matt currently plays a Cobra King LTDx driver and RadSpeed 3-wood. TaylorMade monopolise the rest of his bag, with a SIM UDI, M5 irons and both Milled Grind and HI-TOE wedges, along with a Monza Redline putter. He uses a Vice Pro Plus golf ball, because he’s a bit different…

Away from golf, Matt is a Manchester United fan, and a keen runner, having ran the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon (his first and possibly last), in May 2023.
