The event, ran by Tiger Woods, will see the GOAT return for the first time since withdrawing from the Masters Tournament back in April.

Scottie Scheffler is in a lull of form. Admittedly, it’s a lull of form that has only see three finishes outside the top-20, but for the World No.1, that’s certainly a dip.
Scheffler is a two-time runner-up of this competition, in both 2021 and 2022. It will also be his first event since the Ryder Cup, which was over two months ago.
The World No.1 is the second favourite to take home the title this week, and it would end a nine-month drought for a win.

Viktor Hovland: The Norwegian has been in sublime form over the last few months, and he is also the two-time defending Hero World Challenge champion. He is this week’s favourite at 4/1 to make it a three-peat.
Tiger Woods: He just had to get a mention, didn’t he? Tiger returns this week, and although he is the rank-outsider to win at 50/1, why not back the GOAT? He’s a five-time winner of this tournament.

After home winners in both South Africa and Australia last week, I’m banking on the first foreign winner of the 2024 DP World Tour campaign. That man is Dan Bradbury. The Englishman finished 3rd at the Joburg Open, and has not finished outside the top-20 in any of his last five events. Bradbury is 18/1 to secure a second DP World Tour title.

Could it be Australian winners in back-to-back weeks? Adam Scott is a former winner of his national open, taking victory back in 2009. He is also in good form, with top-six finishes in his last two events. Scott is currently 10/1 to win on home soil again.

The Investec SA Open Championship is co-sanctioned between the DP World Tour and the Sunshine Tour, while the ISPA Handa Australian Open is co-sanctioned by the DP World Tour and the PGA Tour of Australasia.
These co-sanctioned tournaments allow players from the PGA Tour of Australasia and the Sunshine Tour to ply their trade on the DP World Tour over the first few weeks of the new season.

The 2024 DP World Tour season has a different look to compared to previous years. Instead, there will be several ‘Swings’. The ‘Opening Swing’ will run up to Christmas and will comprise of six tournaments across Africa and Australasia.

Matt got into the game of golf from a young age, following his old man to the local golf club.
