AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open Golf Betting Tips

The final tournament of 2023 come from the gorgeous island of Mauritius. Who takes victory in the last DP World Tour event of the year?

The DP World Tour’s last event of 2023 is the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open, but who are our betting tips for glory in this week’s golf?

Kurt Kitayama, Rasmus Hojgaard and Antoine Rozner are the last three men to take victory, but the tournament has moved to a brand new course for this year’s edition…

Who will win in 2023? Matt Coles gives us his tips for victory at the Heritage Golf Club this week.

AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open golf betting tips and preview

Date: December 14-17, 2023
Course stats: Par 72, 7,111 yards
Defending champion: Antoine Rozner (-19)

Laurie Canter @ 25/1 with Oddschecker

Having dallied around between both the DP World Tour and LIV Golf over 2023, I am expecting Laurie Canter to finish with a flourish in Mauritius.

The Englishman finished T4 at the ISPS Handa Australian Open, before then playing in the LIV Golf Promotions Event, where he missed out on a place on the Saudi-backed tour in a three-man play-off.

Canter is yet to win on the DP World Tour, with his sole professional win coming back in 2015. He is 25/1 to change that this week at Heritage GC.

Best of the rest…

Antoine Rozner: The Frenchman seems to have a love affair with Mauritius. He was runner-up in 2019, before then winning the tournament in 2022. Rozner also has top-15 finishes in his last two outings. The Frenchman is 12/1 to take the victory on the African isle once again.

Andrew Johnston: This is certainly an outside bet, and perhaps one that comes more from the heart than from the head. Everyone loves Andrew Johnston, or ‘Beef’ as he is affectionately known. He made the cut last week in just his third event of the year. After battling back from injuries, a win in Mauritius would be an amazing Christmas present for the Englishman – who is 60/1.

What else is going on in the world of golf this week?

There is one other big event going on this week, with the Saudi Open taking place on the Asian Tour.

It is the last event of the 2023 calendar for the Asian Tour, and there are several LIV Golf players who are entered into the tournament.

Kieran Vincent @ 33/1 to win the Saudi Open presented by PIF with Oddschecker

Kieran Vincent was one of the three men who secured their spots in the LIV Golf League for the 2024 campaign last week. The Zimbabwean joined his brother Scott on the tour for next year, and he will be looking to finish 2023 on another high. Vincent is 33/1 to win the Saudi Open this week.

Mention a European country, and Matt will tell you which resorts make the National Club Golfer Top 100s: European Resorts list. He might even throw in who designed the golf course and how many rooms the hotel has got at each one…

Matt got into the game of golf from a young age, following his old man to the local golf club. He fell for the sport, and now can’t seem to go a day without thinking about how to improve his game (Thanks Dad!). Matt has been a member of Howley Hall GC in Leeds since 2020, and is just about managing to maintain a single-figure handicap. He likes to remind people that he once broke 75, but won’t tell people that it was on a shortened course during the winter.

He moved to Leeds after graduating from the University of Central Lancashire with a First Class Honours degree in Sports Journalism. Matt joined NCG after almost five years travelling the world with the Professional Squash Association, working on events in all four corners of the globe.

Matt currently plays a Cobra King LTDx driver and RadSpeed 3-wood. TaylorMade monopolise the rest of his bag, with a SIM UDI, M5 irons and both Milled Grind and HI-TOE wedges, along with a Monza Redline putter. He uses a Vice Pro Plus golf ball, because he’s a bit different…

Away from golf, Matt is a Manchester United fan, and a keen runner, having ran the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon (his first and possibly last), in May 2023.
