Men’s EB66 Performance Five-Pocket Trouser

5 star review

RRP £125

As someone who has a tennis score trouser measurement – forty/thirty – I do struggle to find trousers that are a good fit. On the rare occasions trousers are found then I instantly become a convert to that brand. As such before trying on these trousers I did not expect much & just thought it would be a case of ‘here we go again’, breath in & brace yourself for the tight squeeze. To cut a long story short I am now a fully signed up member of the Peter Millar fan club. Everything about these trousers shouts out quality & comfort.

The first thing that is noticeable when putting them on is the comfortable stretch aspect to them. This is ideal, if like me, you might have to take a number of differing stances as you move between fairway, trees & rough! The 5 pocket feature is a nice touch (two back, two front + a smaller pocket in the front right) even if the smaller pocket I personally would not really find a use for.

I would be more than happy to wear these off the course, be it social or even work.

The trousers come in a good variety of colours and sizes & though it is a premium price (£125) they are a quality product.

The only thing to note is that these are a non-iron & dry clean product that are to be washed on a cold setting.

PROS

  • Comfortable stretch fit
  • Versatile – can be worn on & off the course
  • Good colour choice

CONS

  • Expensive

Sizes: Waist 30-42 & Inseam 30-34
Colour: Iron, Cape Red, Gale Grey, Navy, Black, Khaki, British Grey, Stone, Billiard, Port Blue, British Tan, Lakeside, Balsam, Celeste

Ladies Karlie Stretch Sateen Trouser

5 star review

RRP £135

These are the most comfortable golf trousers I have ever worn. The cotton-twill blend fabric almost feels velvet-like to the touch and is nice and warm for those winter months. It is also stretchy, so it has a bit of give, which is helpful throughout the swing.

These have a great smart casual styling and are something that can be worn both on and off the golf course. The navy colour I tested pairs well with lots of items and they are also available in a light green eucalyptus shade. It would be nice if they offered a wider range of colours though.

I generally wear a UK size 10/12, but wore these in a US 8 with is a UK 12, which fit comfortably. I could have gone down another size for a tighter skinny jeans style fit.

I like the fact there is ample pocket space with two on the front and two on the back that easily fits a scorecard or course planner holder in or your mobile phone.

These are on the price end of the spectrum in terms of golf trousers, but for me the quality and versatility of the design make these worth the extra money.

Overall, I have loved testing these, and they are definitely going to become a staple in my golfing wardrobe moving forward.

PROS

  • Really soft material
  • Very comfortable stretchy fabric
  • Warm winter material
  • Versatile – can be worn on & off the course

CONS

  • None

Sizes: UK 4-20
Colour: Navy & Eucalyptus

Peter Millar Men’s Merge Elite Hybrid Jacket

4.5 star review

RRP £215

I am not normally a fan of jackets when playing golf as I have struggled to find one that doesn’t seem to interfere with my swing. It might be more to do with my swing than any garments but nevertheless I have therefore never really considered purchasing a jacket to play golf in.  Would the Peter Millar Merge Elite Hybrid Jacket be up to the challenge of changing my perspective on golf jackets?

First up, it looks quality, feels lightweight and is extremely comfortable on. I like the simplicity of 2 decent pockets on the front with no gimicky pockets scattered elsewhere. The fabric down the arms is stretchy but comfortable and so quickly got over the concerns of anything interfering with the swing.

Though lightweight it kept me warm and being wind & water resistant it is a great choice as a winter jacket. I would have been happy zipping it all the way up and still feeling comfortable swinging a golf club.

I am not a big fan of massive logoes plastered all over the place and so the subtle positioning of the logoes means I would be more than happy wearing this on and off the golf course.

The only decision that really needs to be made is whether you feel the price is worth the undoubted quality of the item.

PROS

  • Comfortable stretch fit that does not interfere with the swing
  • Versatile – can be worn on & off course
  • Lightweight – would easily fit in a golf carry bag

CONS

  • Expensive

Sizes: S-XXL
Colour: Navy, White/Starboar

 Ladies Madeline Hybrid Jacket

5 star review
Peter Millar golf

RRP £180

This is such a stylish winter jacket that has a really flattering style and silhouette. I love the mixture of materials and contrasting textures as well as the detailing around the pockets and zips.

I really like the fact this is warm without being too bulky so you can still swing comfortably and could also fit a waterproof jacket over the top in really wet weather. It is thicker on the body and thinner on the arms which I prefer from a mobility standpoint. This is wind-resistant and water-resistant so is great at helping you brave the elements. It is only the main body of this that is water-resistant so in heavy rain I opted for a waterproof jacket on top.

There is a double pocket system so you can keep ball markers and tees in the zipped pockets and keep your hands warm in the outer pockets.

I got this in a small, which is a UK 8-10. I would say it fits more on the size of an 8 than a 10 so I would size up if you are unsure but personally, I really liked the fit.

PROS:

  • Really soft comfortable material
  • Really flattering style and design
  • Colours match well with Peter Millar Trousers

CONS:

  • Only comes in one colour

Sizes: UK 4-20
Colour: Navy

Men’s Mid Layer Forge Performance Quarter Zip

4.5 star review
Peter Millar golf

RRP £125

Peter Millar is quite rightly associated with well designed, high quality & comfort items. But it is also known for some quite punchy pricing. This item is no different & all you need to decide upon is whether you wish to fork out and invest in undoubted quality. As they say, buy cheap buy twice!

The quarter zip mid layer is a brilliant addition to any golfing wardrobe. Some of the design additions are not to my personal taste – the block line design around the zip on the chest, for example – but that does not detract from the quality of the item. Yes, I would like a more classic/clean design with side zips rather than a chest zip but that is totally personal taste & as mentioned previously this should not detract from the quality of the item.

As with other Peter Millar items the comfort stretch you feel with this item is there as is the lightweight feel. This means that if you had to take it off it would easily fit into your golf carry or trolley bag.

And for those that don’t like ironing it has the easy-care benefits of washing on low and simply hanging to dry.

PROS

  • Lightweight – would easily fit into a carry bag
  • Stretchy comfort
  • Easy to swing in

CONS

  • Design might not be to everyone’s taste

Sizes: S-2XL
Colour: Burning Sunset, Gale Grey, Lakeside, Navy, Sapphire

Ladies Melange Regland-Sleeve Perth Layer

4 star review
Peter Millar golf

RRP £110

This is one of my most comfortable mid layers and perfect for slipping on as the weather drops cooler on the golf course. I really like the subtle design including the hidden zip detailing.

I tried this is Palmer Pink, but all the shades are nice pastel colours that pair well with various outfits. This is perfect as an autumn layer or with a gilet over the top as the weather drops cooler. It also stores in a golf bag well without creasing.

I got this in a UK small, which Peter Millar categorises as an 8-10. This fits perfectly with some room to spare, so I would say it is true to size.

PROS

  • Very soft material
  • Really nice colourway
  • Great layering piece

CONS:

  • None

Sizes: UK 4-20
Colour: Cottage Blue, Palmer Pink, Lavander Fields, Thyme

Men’s Windbreaker Winter Wind Gust Jacket

4.5 star review
Peter Millar golf

RRP £175

This jacket undeniably exhibits the brand’s signature blend of style and functionality. Created to combat winter’s bite, this jacket presents a great mix of great design and weather-resistant practicality.

The water-resistant exterior forms a good defence against the elements while retaining a pleasant aesthetic. The jacket’s zip up front and stand-up collar are great benefits in blustery conditions whilst ensuring comfort without compromising style.

Versatility is another key plus point of this jacket with it not just being an item confined to the golf course. I would be happy wearing this from fairway to everyday wear. It has a lightweight feel yet keeps you warm without inhibiting movement. The jacket has 2 good side pockets which can be used for a golfer’s various needs, making it a very handy piece of equipment on the course.

Overall, this jacket demonstrates a well-rounded golfing and lifestyle outerwear option that combines comfort and performance, albeit at a premium price.

PROS

  • Lightweight – would easily fit in a golf carry bag
  • Easy to swing in it
  • Weather resistant practicality

CONS

  • Pricy

Sizes: S-2XL
Colour: Black, Rainfall, Sport Navy

Ladies Flex Adapt Fill-Zip Hooded Gilet

4 star review
Peter Millar golf

RRP £145

This is such a cute gilet. I love the hooded element and how the zip and pocket details contrast with the body of the gilet. I tested this in Eucalyptus green, which is really nice and a change from lots of navy items in my winter wardrobe.

It is windproof which comes in handy on those blustery days out on the golf course. I also found it to be water resistant in lighter rain.

This isn’t the thickest gilet and is really intended for layering and for use as we transition from summer into autumn and winter. I find it works well over a thermal base layer and t shirt on colder days.

I got this in a UK small which Peter Millar categorise as an 8-10. I would definitely say this fits like a size 8 so I would size up if unsure.

PROS

  • Love the stylish hooded design
  • Really nice colourways
  • Great layering piece

CONS

  • None

Sizes: UK 4-20
Colour: Navy or Eucalyptus

Peter Millar Fuse Elite Hybrid Gilet

4.5 star review
Peter Millar golf

RRP £175

The Fuse Elite Gilet is a terrific addition to the Peter Millar Autumn/Winter offering.

It is not an overly heavy/bulky garment which means it layers well when worn with the Forge Performance Quarter Zip midlayer. It is not an item to look too though if you were looking for a heavily insulated gilet for the bitter cold months.

The lightweight nature of the gilet means it does not impede the swing at all when playing a shot and would easily roll up to fit in a carry bag if you wished to remove it during the round.

There is a slide in pocket on each side of the gilet and interestingly there is a concealed zip pocket but only on the right-hand side. A nice touch though was when you unzipped the conceal pocket there was a small envelope inside which had a Peter Millar ball marker in.

I am 5ft 10 and did find it felt slightly short in length and would have preferred it to be slightly longer but overall another quality Peter Millar item.

It has their trademark stretch comfort fit which is perfect as a layering piece for the colder months.

The pricing is punchy compared to other gilets but the quality and comfort is there.

PROS

  • Does not impede swing
  • Stretch comfort
  • Easily fits into a carry bag

CONS

  • Slightly short in length

Sizes: S – XXL
Colour: Navy, British Grey, Navy/British Grey
