Peter Millar Pine Performance Hoodie

5 star review

Hands up, I am not a golf hoodie wearer – until this year! The Sunderland hoodie made me view these items in a different light. Dare I say, I am a hoodie convert! I absolutely loved this Peter Millar hoodie.

The fit is perfect – snug but not tight, and it moves easily with me. The stretch is impressive, making it super comfortable during swings (and walks).

I was surprised at how warm it kept me, even on a cooler day, without feeling bulky. The fabric felt soft and breathable, so I never felt overheated.

I also liked how easy it was to care for – just toss it in the wash and dry.

Overall, this hoodie is a great mix of comfort, style, and warmth. It’s become my go-to piece for golf days and casual wear. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a hoodie that fits well and feels great.

PROS

  • Lightweight yet warm
  • Great fit and stretch
  • Easy care

CONS

  • None

RRP: £120

Sizes: S-2XL

Colours: Sky, Blue Haze Tango Pink, Nordic Pine, Navy, White

Peter Millar Shield Half-Zip Rain Shell

National Club Golfer and National Club Golfer magazine

Having recently worn the Hyperlight Shield Half-Zip it has quickly become another one of my favourite Peter Millar pieces.

The quality is obvious – the fabric feels lightweight yet sturdy, and it kept me completely dry in a sudden rain shower.

The stretch made it easy to move, and it was surprisingly warm for its weight. I also appreciated how easy it was to pack away in the included pouch, making it perfect for unpredictable weather.

The only small drawback is that if I put heavier items like keys or a wallet in the pockets, the inner lining drops down and becomes visible, which is a bit of an issue when off the course.

Overall, this is a high-quality, reliable piece that performs well in tough weather. It’s perfect for staying protected while still feeling comfortable and flexible.

PROS

  • High quality
  • Waterproof
  • Packaway pouch included

CONS

  • Inner lining drops when heavy items placed in the pockets

RRP: £195

Sizes: XL

Colours: Navy

Peter Millar Men’s Ballad Performance Jersey Polo

5 star review

For me, Peter Millar screams out quality and comfort. This is no different with this polo shirt.

It is lovely and soft to touch and has a nice stretch in it. I had the angelite colour to test out and it is the perfect colour for spring summer. If you are not a fan of the angelite there are 5 other colours to pick from.

I love the discreet logoing – with just a small silver logo on the back of the neck. Other than that you would not know what brand this polo is – which for me, is ideal.

As with most Peter Millar items it is no trouble at all to swing a club in. The four-way stretch means that the top fits around you in comfort. I am an XL and would say this is true to size. I don’t like super tight tops and this was perfect in this regard.

Other things to note about this polo is that it offers UPF 50+ sun protection and easy-care. The Peter Millar website even states – ‘Do not iron’ – and that is a big plus for me!

If you are after a premium polo that is ideal for on and off course wear, then Peter Millar provides you with this option.

PROS:

  • Lovely colours and design
  • Super soft
  • Four-way stretch

CONS:

  • Premium price – might put some off

RRP: £90 / $115

Sizes: S-2XL

Colours: Angelite / Blue Spruce / Crenshaw / Fountain Blue / Lavender Moon / Pink Crete

Peter Millar EB66 Performance Trousers

5 star review
Best Peter Millar Golf Autumn Winter Apparel

As someone who has a tennis score trouser measurement – forty/thirty – I do struggle to find trousers that are a good fit. On the rare occasions trousers are found then I instantly become a convert to that brand. As such before trying on these trousers I did not expect much & just thought it would be a case of ‘here we go again’, breath in & brace yourself for the tight squeeze. To cut a long story short I am now a fully signed up member of the Peter Millar fan club. Everything about these trousers shouts out quality & comfort.

The first thing that is noticeable when putting them on is the comfortable stretch aspect to them. This is ideal, if like me, you might have to take a number of differing stances as you move between fairway, trees & rough! The 5 pocket feature is a nice touch (two back, two front + a smaller pocket in the front right) even if the smaller pocket I personally would not really find a use for.

I would be more than happy to wear these off the course, be it social or even work.

The trousers come in a good variety of colours and sizes & though it is a premium price (£125) they are a quality product.

The only thing to note is that these are a non-iron & dry clean product that are to be washed on a cold setting.

  • Good colour choice

Max Mcvittie

A bit of a late bloomer to the game of golf, Max fell in love with the sport when he attended Saturday coaching sessions down at his local golf club after being inspired by friends and family members.

Max has remained a member of Eden Golf Club in Carlisle for a number of years now as he looks to get his handicap down into single figures. Most of his golfing career has been spent battling a permanent slice off the tee, which has led to some ugly rounds.

Having studied at the University of Sunderland, Max is starting out his dream career in sports journalism. During his time at university, he picked up valuable work experience at Reach PLC, BBC Radio Cumbria and GiveMeSport, whilst also getting work published in the Teesside Live. He also spent time working at a local weekly newspaper, Eskdale and Liddesdale Advertiser, as a general news reporter partially covering some local sport just north of the border in Langholm.

Max has just started his journey with the NCG working as the assistant equipment editor. He looks forwarded to reviewing the latest golf equipment, taking up an interest in reviews when buying his first golf club, a Cleveland RTX wedge.

With his bag not going under too many changes throughout the last few years, Max carries an M3 driver, Titleist GT3 Fairway Wood, M2 hybrid, a set of M2 irons, Callaway Jaws wedges and a TaylorMade Spider putter. And yes, Max is a bit of a self-proclaimed TaylorMade fan boy.
