How does the Motocaddy S1 DHC trolley perform? Hannah Holden put it to the test

Motocaddy S1 trolley review

When it comes to golf trolleys there are a huge array of options on the market and sometimes the tech can be overwhelming. So what if you just want something that is functional and easy to use? The Motocaddy S1 electric trolley could be the perfect option…

Motocaddy S1 trolley review: NCG verdict

The S1 trolley from Motocaddy is designed to be their entry level product but you wouldn’t be able to tell from the way it looks. I love the new styling which gives it a really high end premium look, but also like the fact they have kept the colouring the same so it ties in with the previous model.

The new chassis seems a lot more sturdy down to the fact there isn’t an adjustable handle lever and due to the shaping of the new construction. As we have seen in previous models we have the easilock bag to trolley connection which also adds to that stability story and allows both carry and trolley bags to fit securely onto the trolley.

I have to say the folding system on this is so quick and simple to use. You simply release the lever and the trolley folds up and down in one piece. Lots of trolleys can be very complicated to put away, but the S1 certainly gets five stars in this category.

Motocaddy have kept the onboard screen very simple making it say to use. There is no excess information we see a clear battery meter as well as an indicator so you can control the nine different speed settings. There is also a build in USB port below so you can charge up any accessories that you may need.

My favourite feature has to be the new Click and Connect battery which lets you go cable free. Not having any wires to fiddle around with makes the trolley so much quicker to put up and down and also makes the whole process more hassle free. It also has a handy quick access port so you can charge the battery inside the trolley.

While this may not look the smallest trolley on the market it actually folds down remarkable small for the size of the product. The wheels can be inverted or taken off to save extra space.

The range has two model options the S1 and the S1 DHC. DHC stands for downhill control and is a fabulous piece of technology. It allows the trolley to maintain a constant speed when moving down a gradient so you don’t have to chase after your trolley or push it up hills to keep pace. It also has a built in electric parking break to keep your trolley still even on the harshest of slopes.

Overall I really enjoyed testing this product out. If you want a sturdy, simple to use trolley that is going to make your game go more smoothly, this certainly ticks all the boxes.
