First impressions

Throughout the winter months, I tend to be a religious waterproof trouser wearer, so I was excited to give these winter trousers a go.

Taking them out of the packet you could tell that they were thicker than regular golf trousers. The insides of the leg were lined with brushed fabric which felt very soft. This is the same with the pockets.

The trousers come in either black or navy and have a single hem down the front. For a pair of golf trousers, these are very flattering being skinny, yet very stretchy.

On-course testing

In terms of the fit of these trousers, I wore a small, being a UK size 10 in bottoms. At 5ft 8 they were a perfect length. These are a skinny fit, with a great amount of elasticity. They were easy to bend down in on the greens when reading putts or marking my ball. Around the waist, they were a snug fit and with no belt loops, you really do need to consult Puma’s size chart before buying. The fastening of these trousers let them down in my opinion. The small zip and latch on the side of the waistband was fiddly, with the zip feeling quite delicate.

Like traditional golf trousers, the Puma Utility Pants have four pockets. All of these have great depth for storage and there is no risk of anything falling out when swinging.

As shown in the picture above, when testing these trousers for at least the fourth time it rained. Puma has labelled these trousers as being water-resistant and I can confirm that this is true. When the rain first came the water just ran straight off and after a couple of holes of rain, I did start to feel water coming through. For a pair of water-resistant trousers, they held up really well and dried off fairly quickly too which was great.

The 19th hole

The Puma Women’s Utility pants could certainly be worn off of the course. The skinny fit of them means they wouldn’t look out of place in my wardrobe, especially in the winter months.
