There’s a new Scotty Cameron putter in town. It’s called the Xperimental GOLO 6.2 LTD putter, and it’s a special-release compact mallet putter that Scotty Cameron says is tour-inspired.

What makes this putter a product of the professional game? Let’s take a look…

The Technology

The Scotty Cameron Xperimental GOLO 6.2 LTD putter is a new design based on the GOLO 6 putter head, which has been in play as a prototype model across numerous tours.

“The GOLO 6 putter head size has been in play for a couple years now. And as more touring pros adopt this compact mallet shape, we get into the prototype phase of experimenting with different neck configurations and finishes based on player feedback. The Xperimental GOLO 6.2 LTD is just that: a new design that adds a familiar plumbing neck, our very popular but rare Chromatic Bronze finish, and a new chain-link face milling.” – Scotty Cameron

Scotty Cameron’s latest putting venture incorporates a rare chromatic bronze finish, a plumber’s neck, and all-new chain-link face milling.

The unique finish is achieved by a proprietary manufacturing process that changes the colour of the 303 stainless steel putter head. The result is a glare-reducing golden hue. The putter’s topline is manually misted, and the face is hand-buffed before its application.

Until now, the styling of the Xperimental GOLO 6.2 LTD putter is a look we may be able to see, but not be able to touch. Scotty Cameron doesn’t usually offer a Chromatic Bronze finish to their commercial putters. Tour models are usually the only Scotty Cameron putters to have this sort of finish. A rarity indeed.

The putter delivers high stability and MOI, and is precision-milled from 303 stainless steel.

Scotty Cameron believes the Xperimental GOLO 6.2 LTD’s chain-link face technology, delivers a combination of the softness of deep-milled putters with the consistency and feedback of mid-milled versions. The chain-link-inspired pattern and texture on the club face is exclusive to this putter.

The Xperimental GOLO 6.2 LTD putter features performance-balanced weighting with two customisable stainless steel sole weights made in 10-gram, 15-gram and 20-gram increments matched to the associated putter lengths of 33-inches, 34-inches and 35-inches.

If you’re like me, and have a slight obsession with club head covers, then you’re going to like this. Each of these Scotty Cameron putters includes an embroidered Xperimental GOLO 6.2 LTD headcover, and I have to say, it does look amazing.

Additionally, Scotty Cameron has included the line’s custom Xperimental GOLO 6.2 LTD shaft band with each purchase. A custom-designed, paddle-style full-contact grip completes the set-up of the new putter.

There’s no denying it’s a great-looking putter, let’s hope it performs just as well.

About the author

Max Mcvittie

A bit of a late bloomer to the game of golf, Max fell in love with the sport when he attended Saturday coaching sessions down at his local golf club after being inspired by friends and family members.

Max has remained a member of Eden Golf Club in Carlisle for a number of years now as he looks to get his handicap down into single figures. Most of his golfing career has been spent battling a permanent slice off the tee, which has led to some ugly rounds.

Having studied at the University of Sunderland, Max is starting out his dream career in sports journalism. During his time at university, he picked up valuable work experience at Reach PLC, BBC Radio Cumbria and GiveMeSport, whilst also getting work published in the Teesside Live. He also spent time working at a local weekly newspaper, Eskdale and Liddesdale Advertiser, as a general news reporter partially covering some local sport just north of the border in Langholm.

Max has just started his journey with the NCG working as the assistant equipment editor. He looks forwarded to reviewing the latest golf equipment, taking up an interest in reviews when buying his first golf club, a Cleveland RTX wedge.

With his bag not going under too many changes throughout the last few years, Max carries an M3 driver, Titleist GT3 Fairway Wood, M2 hybrid, a set of M2 irons, Callaway Jaws wedges and a TaylorMade Spider putter. And yes, Max is a bit of a self-proclaimed TaylorMade fan boy.
