  • Titleist avx 2026 golf ball review: the details

Titleist is back with a new generation of its AVX golf ball. The AVX is designed to suit players with slower swing speeds who want lower long game spin with a lower ball flight off the tee. Its three piece urethane construction is designed for those who prefer a softer feel. With that said, I put the 2026 Titleist AVX golf ball to the test…

Titleist AVX 2026 Golf Ball Review: : NCG Summary

4 star review
NCG SUMMARY

The 2026 AVX a urethane covered ball designed for players who are looking for a soft ball when compared to the premium golf balls.

If you’re looking for a ball that’s going to increase your distance this probably isn’t going to be the one but it will lower mid to long range spin rates and ball flight.

PROS

  • Consistent data
  • Low mid to long game spin
  • Nice feel off the face

CONS

  • Not a ‘soft’ golf ball, just softer than the Tour balls aka ProV1
  • Possible durability issues

First Impressions

The 2026 Titleist AVX packaging does not differ too much from the design that we all know and love. The shiny green box helps to clearly distinguish the AVX from the other balls produced by Titleist. Inside the packaging the story is the same. The AVX looking as you would expect; dimples that are more pronounced than any other Titleist golf ball.

The AVX alignment logo printed on the ball has seen an upgrade from the previous model, which I really like the look of.

NCG Review

The AVX has undergone some upgrades for 2026, including a new softer urethane cover aimed at  improving short game spin and control. There has also been a faster core added for long distance off the tee.

I tested the Titleist AVX both on the course and at an Indoor facility using SkyTrak to collect data. Starting with my 58° with a short pitch shot, the AVX data was very consistent. Titleist doesn’t claim that this is the highest spinning ball with short game shots and so was no surprise that it did not deliver the same spin rates to premium tour golf balls.

With the premium balls I’ve been seeing spin rates well into the 7000RPM’s and this was below these. Out on the course around the greens it did display stopping power given the current ground conditions but if you are wanting more grab and control then you might wish to consider any of the Pro V1 range.

Moving onto 7 iron, the spin was lower than I would typically expect to see with a 7 iron but great if you’re a player looking to reduce spin in mid irons. In terms of carry it wasn’t the longest ball I’ve hit out of the Titleist line up. Branded as being a very soft golf ball, I did not experience that. I would say compared to the premium ball line up from Titleist it’s much softer but it’s not compared to other’s in the range such as the Velocity or Soft Feel.

Finally, with driver the AVX just didn’t come off very fast compared to the other balls that I tested including the Velocity. The carry and ball speed data was less than I would be expecting but the spin rates were good.

As a player who uses a ProV1x predominantly, I can (if I don’t lose it!) get a good few rounds out of a ball without any real damage caused to the cover. One thing I did find with the AVX was that after only 20 shots in the indoor studio some of the cover was marked a little. The dimple pattern on the AVX is very textured which may explain it.

NCG Verdict

Overall, the 2026 AVX is a good option for players who want to use a 3 piece urethane golf ball. It’s not the longest golf ball than I’ve tested in the Titleist range or the spinnest but it did offer consistent data throughout the bag.
