Recent years have seen TaylorMade up their game in the golf ball market, claiming multiple Major championships while developing their product range to offer a strong selection for club golfers. But how do you know which are the best TaylorMade golf balls for your game? Let’s dive in…

Best TaylorMade golf balls for your game

At the top of the tree comes the TaylorMade TP5 and TP5x. The products are the only five-layer balls and are designed with the world’s best players in mind. The 2022 version of the TP5 has a reworked dimple pattern, designed to improve the ball’s aerodynamics helping keep it in the air for longer.

The TP5  is trusted by the likes of Open champion Collin Morikawa, who used the ball to devastating effect around the links at Royal St George’s. The TP5 is preferred by players who crave greenside spin, as it offers a slighter softer feel than the TP5x, particular off the wedge and putter face.

The TaylorMade TP5x shares many characteristics with the TP5, including the redesigned dimple pattern, the 5-layer construction, and the inclusion of something TaylorMade call ‘High Flex Material’, which provides a rebound-like effect to help improve ball speeds.

The latest version of the TP5x has a softer cover than previous versions, helping to provide a more responsive feel while maintaining the overall distance. The TP5x is widely used by tour players, including Rory McIlory and Dustin Johnson.

Overall, the TP5 and TP5x are fantastic products trusted by the world’s best players, and offer tour-level performance in terms of distance, spin, feel and durability. The question for you is whether you prioritise a slight increase in overall distance (TP5x) over a touch more greenside spin (TP5).

There is also created a TaylorMade Pix offering of both the TP5 and TP5x. The Pix was created in collaboration with Rickie Fowler – hence the orange colour – and offers 12 equally-spaced graphics on the ball, making it easier to see in different light conditions.

The TP5 and TP5x Pix also provides fantastic visual feedback on shots around the green. Furthermore, the TaylorMade Pix range features ClearPath Alignment created to aid performance on the putting green, as the location of the TaylorMade and TP5 logos are strategically placed in-between the graphics to provide an immediate visual clue to the quality of strike.

The newest edition to the line-up for 2022 is the TaylorMade Tour Response. This is designed for high performance in mind, but comes it at a more affordable price offering than the TP5 range.

The Tour Response features a 100% cast urethane cover, something seen on most premium golf balls like the Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x, and is designed to offer unparalleled feel and performance. The ball has a softer overall feel than the TP5 thanks to a super-low 40 compression core within its three-piece construction.

In addition to the standard white and yellow offering of the Tour Response, TaylorMade have also introduced a unique striped version of the golf ball, featuring a lime yellow colour wrapped around a white ball. This stripe helps alignment, both on the green and off the tee, providing immediate visual feedback, as well as making it easy to spot around the course.

Designed with the club golfer in mind, the Taylormade Soft Response provides a soft and responsive feel at a reasonable price point. Available in white, yellow and matte red, the TaylorMade Soft Response is designed to maximise distance thanks to its ultra-low 35 compression Hi-Spring core.

The Ionomer cover also provides increased scuff resistance and durability, meaning that you’ll be able to get a good few rounds out of your Soft Response – as long as you keep it in play.

The TaylorMade Kalea golf ball is designed for women’s golf, crafted to help players with a slower swing speed get the most out of their game while still offering a soft feel. The Kalea comes in the classic white, as well as a UV-resistant matte peach and purple colour option, helping to provide maximum visibility in all conditions.

The TaylorMade Kalea ball comes in at RRP of just £21.99 and ties into the brand’s wider Kalea range for women which includes drivers, fairways, rescues and irons.
