FootJoy Premiere Series Field LX 2025 golf shoe review

FootJoy Premiere Series Field LX 2025 Golf Shoe

5 star review

More information: FootJoy UK / FootJoy US

I stepped onto the first tee in my new Field LX Premiere Series – a par 5 – so was hitting driver and the stability the shoe provided was very impressive. The ground was hard, but there was no sway or chance of slipping. Footjoy call this their ‘VersaTrax+ Traction Technology’. I think you can tell my feelings on the Footjoy Premiere Field LX: love, love, love.

This is another remarkable show from FootJoy. It offers tremendous comfort, traction and stability. It comes highly recommended. The HyperFlex is also easy to care for; a simple wipe clean with a damp cloth keeps your shoes looking pristine. So, yet again, FootJoy delivers with the 2025 HyperFlex, offering unrivalled comfort, traction and stability. If you are in the market for a new shoe, you really should include this in your shortlist.

FootJoy Fuel Golf Shoe

5 star review

More information: FootJoy UK / FootJoy US

On testing in damp conditions underfoot, I experienced strong stability with no loss of grip on uneven lies or when playing out of fairway bunkers. I really thought that the lightweight nature of the shoe would mean a compromise in comfort or performance but I have not yet found any weakness in the shoe. I would say that if you plan to wear it in wintery conditions then you may be better off with a darker colour, but the synthetic leather wiped down easily, so it was easy to keep clean.

The grip provided is also faultless, I played my first round in these in a typically British ‘light drizzle’ and experienced no slippage from the spikeless sole. I think if I had blind-tested these shoes I would pick them over any other as they feel like they are offering your all of the athletic support and performance you need with zero compromises on comfort or weight.

FootJoy Perfroma Golf Shoes

These are some of the comfiest out of the box golf shoes that I have worn in years. They’re not packed with foam that needs bedding in, they have more of a firm footbed which is actually very enjoyable to walk on.

FootJoy Pro/SL 2026 Golf Shoe

5 star review

More information: FootJoy UK / FootJoy US

It all looks pretty streamlined and offers an athletic, sporty look. The latest shoe is also significantly lighter, coming in at a very lean 355 gms per shoe. This is about 30% lighter than the previous iteration.

FootJoy Pro/SL 2026 Golf Shoe

The re-imagined Pro/SL 2026 from FootJoy sets new standards in terms of comfort, stability and traction. It comes highly recommended.

FootJoy tells us that the Pro/SL 2026 represents a complete revolution of #1 spikeless shoe on tour. The spiked Premiere model remains the most popular shoe, overall, but tour pro input from the likes of Sahith Theegala has provided the Pro/SL with a bold new look and first rate performance.

It all looks pretty streamlined and offers an athletic, sporty look.

PROS

  • Outstanding lightweight comfort.
  • Excellent traction and performance.
  • Waterproof and easy to care for.

CONS

  • Sporty looks maybe not for all.

FootJoy Premiere Series Field LX 2025 Golf Shoe

FootJoy Premiere Series Field LX 2025 golf shoe review

The nicest pair of FootJoy Premiere Series that I have ever owned. This was love at first sight – the old-school classic look, but packed with tech to make them extremely comfortable straight out of the box.

They were also extremely comfortable, straight away. No break-in period required. The fit is ever so slightly on the larger size, so you could jump down half a size for a more snug fit.

I have since played three full rounds wearing the Field LX – one of which was in damper conditions – and my feet remained dry, as you’d expect from a premium leather waterproof shoe.

Pros:

  • Premium waterproof leather
  • Classical ‘Tour’ look
  • Unbeatable traction while playing shots

Cons:

  • Come on….. there are none!

FootJoy HyperFlex 2025 Golf Shoe

FootJoy HyperFlex 2025 Golf Shoe review

It seems that with each successive FootJoy shoe review I do, they get more comfortable, and the new HyperFlex is no exception – it delivers outstanding comfort. My foot felt securely cosseted and so well supported from toe to mid foot through to heel. I cannot recall enjoying wearing a golf shoe more than this model.

I have worn this shoe on several rounds at my home heathland course in typical spring conditions. My feet have remained dry throughout, and although I haven’t yet had the opportunity to wear them for 36 holes in a day, I am sure that they would be fine.

Pros:

  • Supremely comfortable.
  • Excellent traction and performance.
  • Waterproof and easy to care for.

Cons:

  • Rather uninspiring looks.

FootJoy Fuel Golf Shoe Review: Updated and Superb

I have worn this shoe on several rounds at my home heathland course in typical winter conditions. My feet have remained dry throughout, and although I haven’t had the opportunity to wear them for 36 holes in a day, I am sure that they would be fine.

This latest shoe from the Fuel range is another winner and I can see it replacing my beloved Pro/SLX Carbon as my shoe for 2025, which is really saying something.

If you are in the market for a new pair of shoes this year, then do check out the new FootJoy Fuel. Who knows, it might ignite your game!

Pros:

  • Attractive and stylish design.
  • Strong grip and all-round performance.
  • Lightweight.
  • Waterproof and easy to care for.
  • Good range of colours.

FootJoy Pro/SLX Carbon Golf Shoe

Footjoy Pro SLX Carbon Golf Shoe

This latest shoe from the FootJoy Pro SL range is an absolute winner!

It offers a combination of looks, comfort, grip and stability that, for me, makes it one of the best shoes I have ever tested.

If you are in the market for a new pair of shoes this year, then you really should consider the Footjoy Pro/SLX Carbon.

Pros:

  • Exceptional out of the box comfort
  • Excellent stability
  • Premium waterproof leather upper

FootJoy Traditions Golf Shoes

footjoy traditions golf shoe review

I have had many pairs of FootJoy shoes over the years, if I had a criticism in recently it has been around a slightly loose fit. These change all that. I tested them on the same day as several other brands and these were miles ahead for out of the box snug fit. They feel stable, and grip the foot but are extremely comfortable. This is quite the feat (pardon the pun)

This hybrid look is slightly strange out of the box as the sole is so unrelated to the upper but you don’t notice this when they are on, and you get a classic looking shoe with trainer levels of comfort.

Little insider knowledge, Bill Ho wears these as a preference to more premium models as they are super light weight. He knows his onions.

Pros:

  • A proper fit, like a golf shoe should fit
  • Trainer levels of comfort
  • Classic styling is a antidote to all the other on course off course carry on

Cons:

  • Probs would not choose two tone

FootJoy Performa Women’s Golf Shoes

Out of the box, these are a fab looking pair of golf shoes. They offer a casual, athletic style thanks to the VersaTrax outsole which has a spikeless bottom. The sole is made up from small risen nibs that help to provide traction when playing.

The upper part of the shoe is made up of a plastic feeling material, that helps to provide a waterproof coating. The purple part of these shoes at the back and around the heel is leather for reinforcement.

If the purple and grey colourway isn’t for you, FootJoy offers the Performa golf shoes in White/Blue and Cream/Beige/Multi.

These shoes quickly became a personal favourite of me. I really loved how they were comfy from the get go and I didn’t have to walk around my house for days trying to bed them in. I loved how after a venture into the mud they cleaned up both easily and well so that’s a huge win.

Pros:

  • Very comfortable
  • Not packed full of foam
  • Plenty of room in the foot area
  • Easy to wipe clean

Cons:

  • None

How do we test golf shoes?

At National Club Golfer, we are passionate about producing accurate and thorough reviews and making sure our testing process is rigorous so we get a good understanding of how each pair of shoes performs. We want to provide a list of the best summer golf shoes 2025 and the best winter golf shoes 2025.

Each best golf shoe is worn out on the golf course whilst playing golf, so we can get an idea of overall performance in terms of factors like comfort, grip, stability in the golf swing, waterproof protection and how they actually look on the golf course.

What is important when buying Golf shoes?

When buying new golf footwear its important to know what attributes or features you value the most before deciding on a brand or model to buy. For example, do you want spiked or spikeless shoes?

A lot of golfers think comfort is paramount when choosing a shoe, we are going to be standing in them for 3-5 hours right? Some golf shoes on the market have special insoles and cushioned mid-soles designed to keep your feet feeling fresh. Also it’s pretty common for golfers with wide feet to wear the wrong sized pair of golf shoes so its worth getting fit properly.

Grip is vital to good performance on the golf course as any foot slip in dry or wet conditions can not only cause the golf club to swing improperly but may also lead to an injury. Golfers need traction and stability.

Nearly all golf shoes will either be fully waterproof or offer some kind of water resistance, and this is important as real die-hard golfers play in every weather condition. Having wet feet for 4 hours is not and will never be fun so keeping the feet dry is important, this might even mean you need gore tex in the shoe.

How good the shoe looks is of course subjective to personal style, but is important to any player. Do you prefer an athletic-looking shoe, or are you more full grain leather traditional? Does your shoe offer on-course off-course style or do you want shoes purely for the course? Does the style of shoe you like have the best colour options for your golfing wardrobe?

Price is the last factor to consider. With the models above we have tried to find shoes at all different price points so if you want a shoe at a lower cost, you can get one. Or if you want to spend more, you can do that too. Importantly there is something for everyone.

Do any pros wear spikeless golf shoes on tour?

As you will see on TV when watching the PGA, LPGA & DP World Tour, professionals wear both spiked and spikeless golf shoes, depending on their preference.

Some tour players are looking for extra stability and grip for maximum power creation that a spiked golf shoe might offer, and others are looking for the comfort and style that spikeless golf shoes offer. Some tour players prefer a running shoe style, and others a traditional classic leather shoe; there really isn’t a hard or fast rule as to what tour players wear.
