Cobra OPTM Max-K Driver
Being a maximum forgiveness driver the Max-K, of course, has a more enlarged head compared to more players’ friendly options. But saying that, it isn’t especially massive and I don’t think golfers who oppose big drivers heads are completely ostracised.
It’s always nice when a driver does what it is suppose to. That is certainly the case here as it launches high and goes straight. I even found it hard to miss the fairway with this thing, something that can’t often be said about drivers.
Even on mishits, this is a highly forgiving and accurate driver. It has that strong feeling of dependability about it off the tee.
The ball speeds do drop in comparison to lighter and quicker driver options out there but that is to be expected. I don’t think this impacts on the performance too much.

Cobra OPTM LS Driver
For me, this is easily the best looking driver of the OPTM range. It is, of course, the most compact driver of the lot, with the whole shaping of the club being that bit more cleaner looking than the others.

Elsewhere, spin numbers are noticeably low, with the head delivering strong, penetrating ball flights and impressive ball speeds.
The clean strikes felt controlled in terms of both speed and direction. For a driver of this description I didn’t expect it to be so easily tamed with its accuracy.

Cobra OPTM X Driver
This is a driver that delivers a bit of everything. Offers plenty of stability, a compact look and will help you to keep the ball in play.
Equally the performance is consistent across the entire face and it is a very tidy looking driver.
The whole design is aimed at promoting a straighter ball flight. To help achieve this, Cobra has used AI to reshape the head and there has also been a redistribution of mass via the new weight ports.
It may not be the lowest-spinning or most aggressive driver in the lineup, but it repeatedly delivered fairway-finding drives with solid ball speeds.

Cobra OPTM Max-D Driver
If it’s a slice you struggle with off the tee, then you need to look no further than the Cobra OPTM Max-D driver. It is easily one of the most draw-biased we have tested over the years.
The whole design is engineered to eliminate slices off the tee and it does that very well. Equally it offers high launch and plenty of forgiveness.
You’ll struggle to be offline with this in hand. Fairways are hard to miss with this driver, even on off-centre strikes.

Cobra DS-Adapt LS Driver
A driver that produces staggering speeds. Cobra have redesigned the head of their driver for better and more advanced aerodynamics.
The Cobra DS-Adapt LS is actually the furthest I have hit a drive from the clubs I have hit this year. I also love the looks of this driver, it immediately captured my eye and felt very comfortable stood over the ball.

To summarise, this is definitely the driver I would use out of the four drivers Cobra has released as part of their DS-Adapt line-up. It produced the fastest ball, best club speed, the lowest spin and a solid launch angle degree.

Cobra DS-Adapt MAX-K Driver
A forgiving driver that is a serious option for club golfers everywhere. A smartly designed driver that is packed with technological advances, such as Cobra’s new FutureFit hosel system for a better fitting.
Its all-round performance offers fantastic forgiveness on off-centre strikes, including out of the toe and heel. Despite its high spin rate, there it still offers good distances.

I’m a big fan of carbon being incorporated in the design of driver heads and Cobra has done that brilliantly here. Considering a maximum forgiveness driver is something I wouldn’t opted to play at all or be fitted into, I actually found the shape of the driver was extremely playable.

This truly is a great option for those who struggle with a slice or fade. The draw bias is extremely affective, in part thanks to its weighting system that makes the face of the club shut more.
A smart looking driver that incorporates a slight oversized profile for more forgiveness. The red and black colour scheme is a nice addition.
Even though this driver is developed to promote a draw bias, Cobra has managed to engineer it so that it doesn’t loose any of the characteristics that has made their drivers so great over the years.

Cobra Darkspeed Max Driver
The Darkspeed Max driver makes it extremely easy to hit high, towering draws, which is what we all dream of.
If you need more height on your shots, this is a high-launch machine and will get you launching the ball in the air and carrying your shots further in no time.
If you struggle with a slice, this provides great draw bias technology as it has sole weights which can increase or reduce this so you can create your ideal shot shape.

Cobra DarkSpeed X Driver
The Cobra DarkSpeed X driver has been designed as such so that golfers of all abilities can use it. This is a driver that combines serious forgiveness with competitive ball speeds.
I thought the ball speeds were even a slight improvement compared to that of other brands I have previously used.
The only slight issue I had with the driver is that it did launch slightly higher than what was optimal for me. I felt as though this did have a bit of an impact on the carry distances.

Cobra DarkSpeed LS Driver
Like most modern drivers, Cobra has equipped this driver with carbon in the sole and the crown. This is one of the most forgiving low-spin drivers I have used for a while and is very moveable from both either left or right.
This can definitely be a disruptor in amongst some of the big hitting driver brands like TaylorMade and Titleist.

What hit me straight away is how easy this driver is to launch. If you are someone who struggles to get the ball airborne off the tee then this might be the best option for you.

The consistency of the dispersion is just as equally impressive. I was able to consistently carry hazards such as bunkers and leave my ball in a great position out on the golf course.
It definitely produces a neutral ball flight and for the price is an all-round great performing driver.

Cobra Aerojet LS driver

I was surprised with how well my ball speeds were performing even on off-centred strikes. The LS model is also flatter than the standard model which was a big plus for me as I hate seeing the ball going left.
Even when I was striking the ball out of the toe of the driver the ball still wasn’t nose-diving left.
It’s a big confidence booster knowing I am able to swing hard without the golf ball being effected at all in terms of direction or accuracy.

It was obvious from the get-go just how much more draw bias this was than the Aerojet or the Aerojet LS models.
The distances are really consistent thanks to fairly optimal spin rates.
Overall, this is another good driver from Cobra. If you are looking for an easy to hit driver and are fed up of missing the fairway, then this should be high up on your list.

The Best Cobra Drivers 2026
When it comes to choosing a high-quality driver, Cobra is a brand that should be at the top of your list.
The new OPTM range is packed with technology and as per our testing they really do perform exceptionally.

How do we test?
At National Club Golfer we are passionate about producing accurate and thorough reviews and make sure our testing process is rigorous so we get a good understanding of how each club performs.
Each driver is hit with TP5 golf balls to allow us to collect launch monitor data with our in-house TrackMan and Flightscope. After this it is time to head out onto the golf course and test the clubs in practice and competition play. We do this across a variety of golf clubs in our base of Yorkshire.
What is important when buying a new driver?
When buying a new driver it is important to know what you want from that club to help you improve.
Most people are looking for more distance, each driver model is optimised for different things. Depending on your swing and your impact conditions, you may not actually hit the model that is advertised as the longest, the furthest. So if you want more distance it is always worth giving different models a hit before you make a decision.
For most golfers, especially high handicappers, something that is more forgiving is going to yield the best performance. Most forgiving golf drivers have a slightly bigger club head with perimeter weighting for high MOI. They also have a center of gravity that is further back to help players get more height on their shots.
Do you want something that is draw bias? There are so many models out there to help with slice correction, it would be silly not to take a look if you see your ball disappearing into the right trees too often. A closed face and draw bias weighting can get you hitting straighter shots in no time at all.
Don’t forget about the shaft either. Getting the correct shaft can help dial in your spin, launch angle and can also give you some extra distance. Having a club fitting or trying different options with your local pro can really improve the performance of your new driver.
