Travelling abroad for a golfing holiday is simply a must-do for anyone serious about their golfing.  However, sometimes it just isn’t possible.

Whether that’s because its proving difficult to schedule, organise with friends or simply doesn’t fit into the budget.

The Belfry Golf Resort

The Belfry is situated just outside of Birmingham and is widely regarded as one of the greatest golf resorts in the UK. With the three on-site courses, The Brabazon, PGA National and Derby, this resort is notorious for having hosted more Ryder Cups than any other venue in the world.

Facilities on-site include a 12-room treatment spa, relaxation rooms, finishing studio and leisure club. So, you can kick back and relax after a long round or visit on one of the many onsite bars and restaurants to unwind. 

Steeped in history, any avid golfer should have the Belfry at the top of their bucket list. 

Celtic Manor Golf Resort

Again, known for having hosted the Ryder Cup, staying at the Celtic Manor Golf Resort grants you access to three fantastic courses. The Twenty Ten Course, The Roman Road Course and Montgomerie Course. 

The Twenty Ten Course was specifically designed to host the 2010 Ryder Cup, playing here you too can follow in the footsteps of greats like Phil Mickelson, Rory Mcllroy and Rickie Fowler.

After a long day of golf, you can retire inside the amazing resort, home to a plethora of bars and restaurants you are sure to find something to keep you entertained between rounds.

The Celtic Manor Golf Resort is the epitome of luxury, a must-visit for any golf addict seeking extravagance. 

Carnoustie Golf Hotel and Spa

Anybody looking for a UK Golf break should consider the Carnoustie Golf Hotel and Spa. Home to three courses, the championship course, the Burnside and Buddon Link. 

Perhaps the most famous of the three being the championship course, after hosting the Open Championship and the Dunhill Links. 

Following a day’s battle on the links, find everything you could need in the Carnoustie Hotel and Spa. Facilities include an extensive spa featuring a heated swimming pool, sauna, whirlpool and steam rooms. 

For something a little more energetic, the on-site gymnasium is sure to help you blow off some steam and unwind. 

St Mellion International Resort

If you’re looking for a warmer golf break in the UK, St Mellion International Resort is situated in the south of England, Cornwall. Including both the Jack Nicklaus Signature Course and Kernow Course on-site, you’re sure to revel in a round of golf under the warm British summer sun. 

The Nicklaus course is the first course the great designer ever created, regularly noted as one of the best courses in the UK, it sets a tough challenge for golfers of all abilities. 

Off the course, you can wind down in the award-winning restaurant or brasserie, before heading to one of the many activities available on the resort. Ranging from tennis courts to bowling greens and mature gardens, you’re sure to find something to help you relax. 

The Gleneagles Hotel

Gleneagles Resort in Scotland is one of the games most iconic venues and is certainly a visit to tick off of your bucket list. With three great courses to choose from, follow in the steps of McGinley’s men and relive the 2014 Ryder cup. 

The Gleneagles Hotels design was inspired by magnificent French chateaus, however, located amongst the beautiful rolling hills of Scotland. Soon after opening it was deemed ‘the palace in the glens’, attracting visitors from all over the world searching for a luxury golf break. 

Dining options in this resort are nothing short of perfection, housing the only two-star Michelin restaurant in all of Scotland and the activities off of the course are somewhat more traditional in horse riding and clay pigeon shooting. 

East Sussex National 

Situated in the sumptuous green Sussex countryside and having hosted the European Open Championship on two occasions, the East Sussex National Resort is a must-visit for any avid golfer. 

The 2 courses, the West Course and East Course, both play just over 7000 yards and are littered with undulations and lush vegetation that all golfers dream about. 

After golfing your heart out,  you can unwind in a variety of ways. Whether that entails a trip to the spa for a massage or a workout in the onsite gym. Regardless, the East Sussex National has you covered.

The Mere Golf Resort and Spa

Driving through the Victorian red brick arch, you’re already aware of the grandeur that only the beautiful Cheshire countryside can provide. 

The 18-hole 71 par course was designed by James Braid who carved out this masterpiece out of 150 acres of parkland. The amazing lake and extensive flower beds embody what British golf is all about. 

Off the course is an award-winning spa, as well as two award-winning restaurants to wind down in after a long round. 

The feature making the Mere Golf Resort unique is the unparalleled practice facilities. There is a floating driving range, two-tier pitching green, putting green and bunker practice area.

Rockliffe Hall

Likely the most luxurious gold and Spa Resort in the UK, Rockliffe hall provides all of the amenities and facilities you would expect from a 5* resort. 

Set in the countryside of County Durham, with its own championship golf course on-site, it is perfect for those looking to visit the local attractions while being able to play golf of the highest standard.

The 72 Par course is monumental from the back tees at nearly 7900 yards. With 3 lakes and nearly 25,000 trees to negotiate, the challenge set by this championship course is not one you are likely to forget. 

Off the course you can relax in the award-winning spa, it is one of the largest in the north of England and offers every treatment you could possibly wish for. 

Rockliffe is perfect for a golfer that can appreciate the finer things. 

Forest of Arden Marriott Hotel and Country Club

Situated in the West Midlands, the Forest Arden Marriott Hotel is one of the most accessible resorts in all of the country. It offers exceptional quality accommodation and 36 holes of championship-level golf. 

The Arden Course has hosted many professional tournaments and it’s not difficult to see why designed by Donald Steel this course is a real test of golf. Spanning over 7200 yards from the back tees this course is sure to test even the most veteran golfer.

On-site is the Cedarwood Spa, offering a wide range of treatments, fitness suites, saunas and whirlpool. You’re sure to find something to help you relax after a long round of golf.

Slaley Hall 

Situated in Northumberland, Slaley Hall is arguably the most luxurious golf hotel in the North East of England. The hotel is built in an Edwardian mansion, set in thousands of acres of countryside, it provides the perfect environment to sit back and relax.

There are two championship courses, first The Huntings which provides a challenging approach for any golfer, whilst The Priestman presents its own challenges in the form of numerous water hazards.

Slaley Hall’s on-site spa provides the perfect environment to relax in after a long round. Providing facilities such as a swimming pool, steam room, sauna, whirlpool and a range of treatments in the beauty spa.
