Video: We caught up with American Golf, UK Long Drive champion Rebecca McGinley to find out what interests her on and off the course.

Rebecca McGinley Bio

Rebecca played in ten LETAS tournaments during 2015. Her best finish of the season came at the final tournament of the season, the WPGA International Challenge. She placed in a tie for 19th after only getting in to the tournament from a late withdrawal. She made a further two cuts during the season.

Rebecca turned professional in December. Before turning professional she had a successful amateur career. She won the Durham Junior Championships four times. She was the leading qualifier at the English Northern Ladies Championship in 2014 with a two round total of nine under par. This included a course record 68 (-6). Rebecca holds the 2015 UK womens Long Drive title, and finished 3rd at the 2015 World Long Drive Championships.

      Won the 2007 England Golf Northern girls Chapionship – shooting a courde record 69 (-4)

Winner of the 2013 Durham County Mixed foursomes chapionship played a Billingham Golf Club

Won the 2014 Durham County foursomes championship played over 3 courses – Wearside, Crook, and South Moor Golf Club.

Winner of four Durham County Junior Championship 2014, scoring a total of -9 (leading by 4 strokes) setting a new course record of 68 (-6)

Won the English Schools regional qualifying events for 3 consecutive years. 2005,2006,2007.

Winner of the Tynedale Stan Calvert scholarship award in 2008, awarded to the most aspiring young performer in Tynedale.

Holder of 7 course records : Gairsfield GC , 65 (-7)’ Eaglescliffe, 68 (-6), Wearside GC, 70(-4), Swinton Park GC, 69 (-4), Bishop Aukland GC, 70 (-3), South Shields, 71 (-3) RavensWorth GC, 71 (-1)
