We all know that St Andrews is the ‘Home of Golf’, but you can easily make the perfect trip from the other sublime golf courses that Fife has to offer.
Here at NCG, we appreciate that you can lost in the glamour and the history of St Andrews, and that would be completely understandable.
However, if you look further into what the Kingdom of Fife can provide, you can also enjoy the perfect golf trip without even stepping foot in St Andrews (though while you’re there, why wouldn’t you?)
From classic links courses to the new design of American versions of links golf, and even with one of the best inland courses in the country thrown in, Fife really has a lot to offer!

Why should you look elsewhere in Fife for your next golf trip?
Yes, we know just how good St Andrews is! There’s eight courses in their portfolio, so you could be up there for a week and just play courses that are part of St Andrews Links.
We know you could spend that time playing the likes of the New Course, the Jubilee Course, the Castle Course and the Craigtoun Course among others – along with trying to get your name into the ballot for the Old Course as well!
However, there is so much more to golf in Fife than just the courses in and around that historic little town.
Joining the Craigtoun Course at St Andrews is one other sublime inland course – Ladybank. It is a fantastic parkland course, and arguably one of the best non-links layouts in Scotland.

The southern coastline of the region plays host to four epic links courses, two of which neighbour each other.
At one point in time, the land that crossed the Mile Dyke occupied just one golf course. Following an extension, though, the land was split into two, with Leven Links and Lundin Links being born.

The two courses are separated by a stone wall, and once a year, you can play the original 18-hole layout, which runs across both courses.
The Golf House Club, Elie – home to one of the most iconic first shots in golf – and Dumbarnie Links, one of the newest courses in the country, are also on that stretch of coastline.
At the former, you can enter the starters hut to look through the famous periscope. Only then will you ow if the fairway – one that sits well above you – is free to play your opening tee shot.
And then, Dumbarnie Links offers you the new style of links golf. While tough from the back tees, there is a playability if you choose the right tee box, offering you a great day out!

Also in the same vein as Dumbarnie is Kingsbarns, which sits on the eastern coastline of the country. Another world-class links, playing host to the DP World Tour for several years now, it is another where the amateur can enjoy themselves without feeling like they have been beaten up by the course.
