The US Open is such an exciting event. Golf fans can barely wait for the first tee time in round one, and then come back for more on Friday for round two. This will be no different at the 2026 tournament at Shinnecock Hills on Long Island.

It is a brutal test that has hosted the US Open five times before. It is America’s national championship and one that every player, let alone Americans, want to win. If you have won the US Open, you know your game can stand up to stern tests.

It goes without saying that the second round of any tournament is vitally important, at both ends of the leaderboard. The leaders will want to capitalise on a good start, and the players towards the rear of the field will want to hunt for birdies and make the cut to play at the weekend.

The defending champion J.J. Spaun has been drawn to play with Scottie Scheffler and budding amateur Mason Howell in the first two rounds, while Rory McIlroy has been drawn with Tommy Fleetwood and Ludvig Aberg.
