The most ridiculous round ever! Golfer ties world-record in near ‘perfect game’
Local pro Andrew Ruthkoski put together one of the lowest golf rounds ever at Oak Ridge in Michigan
Now you know we love an outrageous scorecard here at NCG, but while we’ve brought you the bonkers, the topsy-turvy, and the ever-so relatable, we’ve now come across probably the most incredible round of all time – one so good, it’s earned a place in the record books.
Andrew Ruthkoski had planned to play just six-holes with his daughters at Oak Ridge, but when the time came to return his buggy in the evening, the local pro dared not stop.
In a stretch which defied belief, Ruthkoski was an astonishing 9-under through six holes at his home course in Muskegon, Michigan – a run which included three eagles and three birdies.
The Michigan man then became mundane momentarily as he carded two pars, before turning on the heat again to finish the front-nine with another eagle. At 11-under par, the local pro needed one more red number to break the course record, set by none other than, you guessed it, Andrew Ruthkoski in 2012.
Spurred on by a buddy who had joined the Ruthkoski trio, the 39-year-old went bogey-free on the back-nine, carding six birdies while nearly holing-out for eagle on the par-4 17th.
After battling the nerves to close with a birdie on the final hole, Ruthkoski’s scorecard read an eye-scratching 17-under 55. Go on then, let’s take a look…
Video game stuff.
In producing the mesmerising round, Ruthkoski’s 55 equals the world-record for the lowest round ever shot on a golf course, all while making five pars! Another red number would have also secured the unprecedented ‘perfect game’ of golf, although we suppose this one wasn’t too bad.
The local pro now heads off to a pre-qualifier for the John Deere Classic, where I guess you could say he’ll be feeling slightly confident about his game.
