Players Championship betting tips betting tips: Who to back each-way
Joel Dahmen (100/1 with bet365) played in his first Players Championship in 2019 and was thoroughly impressive when finishing 12th.
The American has become a regular on the right end of PGA Tour leaderboards in the past couple of seasons and at a large price looks a wise selection.
He’s in good form with two top 5s in his last two starts and will be feeling good having secured a spot in this year’s Open Championship thanks to his stellar week at Bay Hill.
Dahmen is a fairly accurate driver of the ball which will serve him well and also ranks 11th in Stroke Gained Tee to Green on the PGA Tour this season.
Jhonattan Vegas (150/1) placed here last year at similar odds and there is no reason why he won’t be right up there again this time around.
He comes into this week in similar form to that of 12 months ago with a top 10 at the Puerto Rico Open and a 27th-place finish at the Honda Classic. Last year he played the two weeks prior to Sawgrass but this time has taken a week off which could have allowed for a little extra preparation.
This season he’s ranked fourth in Strokes Gained Off the Tee and if he is able to replicate even part of his performance from 2019 then he could be an astute selection at a big price.
