The Solheim Cup was back just 12 months after the previous edition in 2024. What’s not to like about that?
The LPGA Tour and the Ladies European Tour held the event at Finca Cortesin in Spain in 2023 which ended in a 14-14 draw, so Europe retained the cup. But Team USA put this right at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in 2024 on home soil, taking the trophy back by 15.5 points to 12.5.
So what about the Solheim Cup 2026 situation and what future venues are booked beyond?
Solheim Cup 2026: When is the next event taking place?
The Solheim Cup had switched to odd-numbered years starting in 2003 due to the September 11 attacks. But in 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic caused another reshuffle. The 2020 Ryder Cup was shifted to 2021, the same year as the Solheim Cup.
They were both played in 2023 too, but another edition of the ladies’ event was established in 2024, returning to an even-numbered schedule. So there was no Solheim Cup 2025, but a Solheim Cup 2026.

2026: Bernardus (Netherlands)
Jetting off to another new country two years later, the 2026 Solheim Cup will be staged at Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands. Located in Cromvoirt, close to Eindhoven, the course opened in 2018 and has hosted the Dutch Open twice.
Designed by renowned architect Kyle Phillips, Bernardus is a heathland golf course characterised by a compact layout and tricky water hazards. Phillips has previously worked on world-class designs such as Kingsbarns, The Grove and Yas Links.
“The opportunity to host such a globally significant sports event is a huge honour for our whole team,” Robert van der Wallen, the owner of Bernardus, said. “Experience is what we are all about at Bernardus and our preparations are already underway to ensure we play our part in providing the stage to host a best-in-class Solheim Cup experience in September 2026.”

At the golf course, there is Bernardus Academy which sees a team of professionals train and guide beginners seven days a week. There is also the Bernardus Lodge which has eight double rooms for guests to stay.
2028: Valhalla, Kentucky
Valhalla has hosted four major championships in the men’s game, most recently the 2024 PGA Championship that was won by Xander Schauffele. Tiger Woods also won the same event there in 2000.
Valhalla was designed by Jack Nicklaus and was first established in 1986. It also hosted the 2008 Ryder Cup was won by Paul Azinger’s Team USA which stopped a run of three consecutive losses against Team Europe.
Seven years after the club was founded, the PGA of America purchased 25% interest in the club which grew to 50% in 1996. After the 2000 PGA Championship, the PGA of America purchased the remaining interest in the club.
What about the Solheim Cup 2030?
The grapevine isn’t quite ripe with speculation about a venue for the 2030 Solheim Cup. What we do know is that it will be in Europe. Remarkably, the event has never been hosted in England but has visited Scotland on multiple occasions, plus Ireland and Wales.
“That’s why I’ve ever been the captain because it’s never been in England,” Solheim Cup legend Dame Laura Davies told NCG.
“Money. No one’s come up with the right package. It’s been to Germany, Spain. The Solheim Cup costs a fortune and unless you have – the Dutch guy is very rich, the guy in Germany was very rich. It’s always someone who really wants to – Finca was the same thing, billionaire owners.
“They all have one thing in common, they really want to showcase their course, and they want to bring it to their country and if you’ve got enough money, you can do that but in England, most of the courses it would go to, they don’t need showcasing because they’re already unbelievable golf courses.”

But the Ryder Cup hasn’t quite spread its wings in England either with only the Belfry and Walton Heath being used since 1981. The men’s sphere has stretched to foreign fields and new venues with Le Golf National in France and Marco Simone Golf and Country Club in Rome in recent years.
Both countries have yet to step into the Solheim fray and the Netherlands is about to join the party in 2026. The smart bet (were the market for it) could be in continental Europe again. Watch this space.
