What happened when Fowler took on JT left-handed?

Rickie Fowler and Justin Thomas are proving to be a lighthouse in the current gloom and desperation for any sort of golf action

What happened when Fowler took on JT left-handed?

A few days after nearly shooting 59 Rickie Fowler was back out with his good friend Justin Thomas.

Again they were teeing it up at Michael Jordan’s course, The Grove XXIII, in Florida – but this time they were playing in left-handed.

And the results, even in this enormous thirst for watching any sort of ‘live’ golf, were fascinating. To add to the occasion the pair were dressed in mismatched clothing and JT’s dad, Bob, and Fowler’s wife, Allison Stokke, made up the fourball.

Here’s just a snippet of what took place…

But for a very in-depth look at The Greatest Game Ever Played Part II, then click on Fowler’s stories which is titled Lefty Day.

If you haven’t got the time then these are the highlights…

At the halfway point Thomas led by five – 44-49 – but then turned the game on its head with a run of 7-7-6 which coincided with a ‘huge par’ from Fowler on 10. One Thomas tee shot brought on an outstanding club throw. At 14 Thomas hit another drive out of bounds which again coincided with a Fowler fairway bunker shot from 160 yards which found the green. Thomas described it as “probably the best shot in your life”.

Another par at 15 put Fowler in the driving seat and, despite a treble at 17, he closed the match out with a round of 94 to JT’s 101. All of which is impressive enough but there also seemed to be quite a bit of wind gusting about.

There was a bit more footage of Fowler and none of Thomas’s stellar front nine of 44 but you would come to the conclusion that Fowler had the better left-handed swing, he even employed the same waggle, while Thomas was maybe was a bit more agricultural.

Either way we’re already looking forward to the next one.
