Miyu Yamashita is a rising star in the women’s game, claiming her maiden major championship victory in 2025.

Born in August 2021 in Neyagawa in the Osaka Prefecture of Japan, Yamashita took up the game from a young age, as early as 5 years old. After starring in the amateur game, the Japanese turned professional in 2020, and soon made a name for herself on the LPGA Tour of Japan.

She claimed her maiden professional victory in 2021, before winning five times on the tour in both 2022 and 2023. Yamashita was named the LPGA Tour of Japan’s Player of the Year in both of those seasons. After more success in 2024, she then made it through Q-School to graduate to the LPGA Tour for the 2025 campaign. Yamashita made her major breakthrough that year, winning the AIG Women’s Open by two shots at Royal Porthcawl to become the sixth female major winner from Japan. By the end of the year, she had her second LPGA Tour title as well, with a win at the Maybank Championship.
