Chris Gotterup is an American with a pair of PGA Tour wins, including one in the co-sanctioned Genesis Scottish Open.
Born in 1999 in the state of Oklahoma, lacrosse was actually Gotterup’s main sport growing up. However, following his move into golf, he became an amazing amateur player. He was given the Haskins Award and the Jack Nicklaus Award for being the best collegiate player following his transfer to the University of Oklahoma for the 2021-2022 academic year.
After turning professional following his graduation, Gotterup had to wait until 2024 for his first taste of victory on the PGA Tour. That came at the Myrtle Beach Classic, where he won by six shots. A year later, he held on to win the Genesis Scottish Open – a co-sanctioned event between the PGA Tour and the DP World Tour. He won by two shots from Rory McIlroy and Marco Penge, taking victory at the Renaissance Club. Seven days later, he finished in 3rd at the Open Championship – his best finish in a major to date.
