Barring any more dome-related disasters, TGL Golf will be back in 2025.
The new tech-infused golf league, masterminded by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, has announced a return date of January 7 with the first three fixtures scheduled for the first three Tuesdays of that month.
24 PGA Tour stars will compete in six teams in the custom-built SoFi Centre on the campus of Palm Beach State College in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
The original start date of January 9, 2024 was scrapped when the dome roof of the arena deflated through a failure with the temporary power system and the backup systems used in construction.
But now, TGL Golf is primed to be shown on ESPN and ESPN+ in the US and is also aimed at benefitting the channel’s coverage of the NFL Playoffs and the 12-team College Football Playoff.
“As we plan the 2025 launch of TGL presented by SoFi, we now have the first three Tuesdays in January circled to introduce sports fans to this new form of team golf,” said Mike McCarley, co-founder of TMRW Sports with Woods and McIlroy, the company that gave birth to TGL Golf.

“January is a tremendous time of year for fans looking for prime-time sports and TGL’s launch will complement the start of the PGA Tour season and take advantage of ESPN’s promotional machine across their coverage of the NFL and college football playoffs.
“We’re grateful for our tremendous partner SoFi, who shares in our vision to harness technology to create new approaches within traditional institutions. As construction proceeds on SoFi Center, we’re eager to introduce sports fans to TGL as we focus on the league’s debut this coming January.”
Woods took to X (formerly Twitter) on Monday afternoon to repost a video from TGL Golf featuring the voice of Rickie Fowler explaining the format.

Atlanta Drive GC, Boston Common Golf, Jupiter Links Golf Club, Los Angeles Golf Club, TGL New York and TGL San Francisco are the current team identities. Atlanta Drive and LAGC are currently the only two teams with complete four-man rosters.
The TGL Golf roster as a whole underwent somewhat of a shake-up at the start of 2024 as Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton left the PGA Tour to join LIV Golf. Hatton had been on McIlroy’s team, Boston Common, before joining the Saudi-funded circuit.
