  • Mexico open golf prize money:

The Mexico Open at Vidanta was back and it was the third year of its return to the PGA Tour schedule.

It had previously been played on the PGA Tour Latinoamerica and the Korn Ferry Tour, what used to be called the Nationwide Tour and the Web.com Tour.

Tony Finau, Nicolai Hojgaard, Ryan Fox and Thorbjorn Olesen headlined the field with significant European representation.

Finau was the defending champion after beating Jon Rahm at Vidanta Vallarta last year by three shots. Rahm won the tournament in 2022.

The American was looking for his seventh win on the PGA Tour, but it was Jake Knapp who won his maiden PGA Tour title with an impressive display on Sunday.

The man who worked as a nightclub bouncer just two years ago carded a final-round 71 to secure victory by two shots over DP World Tour graduate Sami Valimaki.

The purse for last week’s event was $8,100,000 with the winner earning $1,458,000.00 for his troubles.
