Robert Trent Jones Golf Club is a new venue in the LIV Golf League in 2025, which has hosted several big events in the game.

The club was established in 1991 and designed by Robert Trent Jones. It has hosted the Presidents Cup on four occasions, and on each occasion, the United States beat the Internationals. The most recent edition it held was in 2005 when the USA won 18.5-15.5.

In 2015, the PGA Tour went to Robert Trent Jones Golf Club with the Tiger Woods Quicken Loans National which was won by Troy Merritt. The Solheim Cup was there in 2024 which was also won by America.

The LIV Golf Virginia event was booked in the same week as the RBC Canadian Open on the PGA Tour, which has a purse of $9,800,000. Bob MacIntyre won it in 2024 and pocketed $1,692,000.

It was also being held in the same week as the KLM Open on the DP World Tour, which has a prize fund of $2,750,000 at The International in Amsterdam.

So far in the LIV Golf League, a variety of players have starred. Adrian Meronk won the season-opener in Riyadh, Niemann won in Adelaide, and Sergio Garcia won in Hong Kong. Niemann then doubled his tally for 2025 in Singapore, and then Bryson DeChambeau won in Korea.

There is also an LPGA Tour event in the same week. This is the ShopRite LPGA Classic presented by Acer in Galloway, New Jersey, which has a purse of $1,750,000 and was won by Linnea Strom in 2024.

While the payouts for LIV Golf events are $20 million, the complete total is $25 million, as there is $5 million divided among the winning teams. The winning team earn $750,000 each, but that is invested back in the team.

The four-man squad in second place earn $375,000 a piece, and the team in third earn $125,000 each, but as we’ve said, this figure gets invested back into the team. It is believed it doesn’t go in the players’ pockets.

Let’s examine the purses of the events on the corresponding tours in the same week: the PGA Tour, the DP World Tour, the LPGA Tour and the Ladies European Tour, while we await the conclusion of tournament week at LIV Golf Virginia.
