Here is the prize money breakdown of the opening LIV Golf event in Riyadh in 2025

liv golf riyadh prize money

The first event of the LIV Golf season in 2025 came in Saudi Arabia.

Riyadh Golf Club hosted some of the best players in the world on the LIV Golf roster to get the fourth season underway – how time has flown.

LIV Golf Riyadh featured a $25 million purse, which is divided into two parts. $20 million is set aside for the 54 players who compete, all of whom will be paid, as there is no cut.

The winner, Adrian Meronk, received $4 million and the winning team, Legion XIII, received $3 million and then another $2 million was divided among second and third (Rippers and RangeGoats got $1 million each for coming tied for second). The team winnings get put back into the team to invest.

At the end of last season, Jon Rahm was the champion of the individual season-long standings. The Spaniard won the LIV Golf UK event at JCB in 2024 and he won in Chicago too. He finished top of the standings, above Joaquin Niemann in second and Sergio Garcia in third.

He won $18 million for his troubles, which was dwarfed by the winnings that Scottie Scheffler picked up for winning the FedEx Cup in 2024. The World No.1 banked $25 million, which is equal to the purse at a LIV event and also the purse at the PGA Tour’s Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass.

Since the emergence of the LIV Golf League, the PGA Tour has upped the ante with purses in the last few years. In 2025, the tour will hold eight Signature Events, each with a huge prize fund of $20 million. At three of these events, the winner earns $4 million, and $3.6 million is dished out to the winners of the others.

Rahm had an extremely profitable first year in the LIV Golf League in 2024. According to the calculations of yours truly, the two-time major champion made $38,238,154 in 12 events. He earned $52,055,684 in 154 events on the PGA Tour which he left to join the LIV Golf League just before Christmas in 2023.

At the start of the 2025 season, we made Talor Gooch the most well-paid LIV player. The American has won three LIV Golf events since he joined from the very start in 2022 and has banked $56,435,280.
