The LIV Golf League event at the Grange has been the most celebrated by far since the controversial new rebel tour came into existence.

Australian fans have always been said to be starved of professional golf stars playing on their fabulous golf courses. Well, LIV answered their prayers in 2023 by taking an event to Adelaide.

Talor Gooch won the first-ever LIV Golf Australian event and banked $4 million for his troubles. His team, the RangeGoats, also came second that week which resulted in a little more cash going into the team pot.

In 2024, Brendan Steele won the event that was held in April, now shifted to February of course. The Hy Flyers man finished on 18-under-par and also banked $4 million from the total purse of $25 million.

At each LIV Golf event, $25 million is the payout. The $20 million portion of that figure is dished out among the 54 competitors, regardless of where they finish because like the shotgun start and shorter format, part of LIV’s new model is that there is also no cut. The winner in 2025 will also receive $4 million.

There are guaranteed earnings for everyone. LIV Golf wildcard and shock 2024 signing Anthony Kim finished in last place on six-over-par, 24 shots behind his former PGA Tour colleague Steele. However, he still took home $50,000 which is certainly nothing to be sniffed at, given how uncompetitive he was in the tournament.

Now that there are more players in the LIV Golf fields compared with the 2023 season, the prize money at the bottom of the leaderboard is distributed a little more. In Adelaide in 2023, Sihwan Kim of the Iron Heads team banked $122,500 for coming last on the leaderboard.

Last year’s winning team, Rippers GC, took the victory in front of their own fans. They each earned $750,000 as a result, but this money is invested back into the team and doesn’t directly go into the pockets of the competitors.

$375,000 goes to each member of the second-placed team and $125,000 goes to each member of the team that finishes in third place. The team element that runs concurrently with the individual competition is one of the most unique parts of the LIV Golf League.

LIV players aren’t just playing for a pot of gold anymore either. Those without major exemptions now have direct routes to the US Open and the Open. Read more here.

In 2025, Joaquin Niemann won in Adelaide, beating Carlos Ortiz and Abraham Ancer by three shots and winning for the third time in his LIV career.

Ancer and the Fireballs won the team event comfortably by six shots, with Legion XIII in second and Torque in third.
