LIV Golf is back in Mexico in 2025, but not in Mayakoba.

The event has moved to Club de Golf Chapultepec which held the Mexican Open on several occasions and hosted the WGC Mexico Championship four times between 2017 and 2020.

The club was established in 1921 and was designed by Willie and Alex Smith. It was redesigned by Percy Clifford in 1972. Having been a host venue on the PGA Tour, it now belongs to the LIV Golf League.

Charles Howell III won the first LIV Golf event held in Mexico in 2023 at El Camaleon and serial LIV winner Joaquin Niemann won at the same venue in 2024 in a playoff in the dark against Sergio Garcia.

Club de Golf Chapultepec will host the sixth event of the LIV Golf season, the one after the Masters. As per usual in each LIV Golf event, the stars will be out and it is the same roster of stars playing each week including Niemann, Garcia, Jon Rahm, Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka, Dustin Johnson, Phil Mickelson, Patrick Reed, Cameron Smith and Tyrrell Hatton.

Frequently Asked Questions about LIV Golf Mexico City

When and where will LIV Golf Mexico City take place?

LIV Golf Mexico City 2025 will take place from April 25-27. It will be held at Club de Golf Chapultepec in Mexico.

What does LIV Golf stand for?

LIV is the Roman numeral for 54 which is the number of holes played at each LIV Golf event. For 99% of golf tournaments, it is 72 holes.

How does LIV Golf work?

There are 13 regular LIV Golf events in the 2025 season with a team championship finale at the end in Michigan. At each event, there is an individual competition and a team competition.

The top 24 golfers on the 54-man leaderboards will score points. The top eight teams on the 13-team leaderboard score points. To no one’s surprise, the player with the lowest stroke play score after 54 holes wins the event.

In the team format, all players’ scores in each four-man team count for all three days of the event. Before 2025, only the top three scores from each team counted for the first two days, and all four counted for the final round.

Who owns LIV Golf?

The Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia, a sovereign wealth fund that is racing towards a trillion dollars in worth, is the primary investor of LIV Golf.

These riches would explain why the top stars have received huge sign-up fees, north of $100,000,000 in some cases, and why this start-up tour has made such a splash in the professional game.

How to watch LIV Golf on TV?

In the UK, the LIV Golf website says you can watch the action at each event on the LIV Golf+ App and now, you can watch the action for free on ITVX, the on-demand platform for ITV. In the United States, you can now watch LIV Golf across all Fox Sports channels.
