Since winning the Mexico Open on the PGA Tour in 2024, Jake Knapp has been one of the most exciting talents on the circuit.
He has a distinctive look with long blonde curls bursting from his PXG cap and his swing, using his PXG clubs, is being compared to the relaxed, loose motion of former Masters champion Fred Couples.
His swing loops right around the back of his left shoulder and his tempo coming through the ball is infectious. It is a key reason why he is rising in popularity and stock on the PGA Tour.
Knapp won the Mexico Open by two shots from Sami Valimaki in 2024, which earned him starts at the Masters, the Players Championship, the PGA Championship and the US Open.
Knapp also joined the exclusive PGA 59 club at the 2025 Cognizant Classic. The man from Costa Mesa had an eagle putt for a 58 on the final hole in the first round at PGA National, but he had to settle for a tap-in to shoot 59 and join the small group of people to break 60 on the US circuit.
By his side for some time has been Makena White, his girlfriend. She was in disbelief after Knapp shot such a great score as the PGA Tour showed the pair embracing after the historic round.

According to People.com, Makena attended St. Joseph High School in Ottawa, Canada where she was the president of the Athletic Council in her senior year. After that, Makena attended McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. She graduated in 2019 with a degree in communications and software engineering.
Reports say Makena began a career in surgical sales. She is also a big fan of sports, which you think would suit her relationship with a professional golfer. She has a passion for Boston Bruins and Ottawa Senators which are hockey teams.

It seems Makena and Knapp started dating in August 2023, but it didn’t become clear they were together to the public until February 2024.
Makena is quite active on Instagram. She has over 9,000 followers and she often posts pictures of her travels, running marathons, hiking and of course, on the golf course watching her partner compete on the PGA Tour. One of her most recent posts was of her watching Knapp play in the WM Phoenix Open in the 2025 season.
She is also quite active on X too, often posting pictures of her and Knapp, reposting updates of her partner’s progress at tournaments and also posting ice hockey-related updates which shows her passion for sports as a whole.
