The BMW PGA Championship is the biggest event on the DP World Tour schedule, and it comes with a larger purse than usual

The BMW PGA Championship is the flagship on the DP World Tour schedule, which means it has a much higher purse to come with it.

There is a $9 million prize purse up for grabs at the Wentworth West Course in Virginia Water, Surrey. In 2024, Billy Horschel won €1,370,338 for his troubles.

Horschel tied Rory McIlroy and Thriston Lawrence after the final round, so a playoff began on the 18th hole. Lawrence dropped out on the first, then Horschel picked off McIlroy with an incredible eagle.

The best players on the circuit compete at Wentworth, plus a smattering of stars from America such as Brooks Koepka and Patrick Reed.

This event has the same purse as the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship. The finale of the season, the DP World Tour Championship, has a purse of $10 million.

The DP World Tour also runs a series of elevated purse events called the Rolex Series. The first one in the schedule was the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, then it was the Genesis Scottish Open.
